Tierney has been performing Jazz professionally for the past seven years. Her repertoire includes originals along with standards such as All of Me, Bewitched, Fly me to the Moon, Whisper Not, and many more. She has performed at venues such as The Wine Stand (Hamptons) Terrace on the Park (Queens), Ludlow Bistro (Dix Hills) The Crescent Club (Bayville) etc.
About
Tierney Ryan was raised in a small beach town on Long Island. Originally a student of fashion, her career path took a decisive turn while working as a waitress at a local restaurant. After sitting in on some jazz standards with piano player Robert Lepley, she discovered her love for music. Shortly thereafter, Ryan began pursuing a degree in music education at Five Towns College, in Dixhills, NY. In addition, she began teaching privately in Long Island. A performer at various venues around the island, she was featured on The Rachael Ray show with her acappella quartet "The Jingle Belles" in a segment called "The Carol off", which was judged by celebrity host, Nick Canon. Upon graduating from Five Towns in 2010, Tierney took a year off to teach music in New York City schools as a faculty member for the Education Through Music program.
Currently, Tierney is in her second year of the Master’s Degree for Jazz Performance at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. During her time at The Manhattan School, Tierney has had the opportunity to sing with the schools big band and smalls group, as well as the MSM Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Ryan also remains active outside of school with her own groups, and recently recorded a demo CD, featuring six of her original compositions. She is currently a student of Peter Eldridge, Theo Bleckmann, Darmon Meader and Becca Stevens.
