The Royals of San Diego

About

In January 2005, Peter King, a transplant from the outskirts of Boston, and life-long singer, was seeking to form a new a cappella group with a sound rooted in the East Coast street corner era of the late 50s and early 60s. Soon after, The Royals were founded in San Diego's own Clairemont community!

The members hail from both the East and West Coasts, bringing their personal and musical influences to the table. As a result, there is a very "East Meets West" quality to their overall presentation of their music.

The group is based in San Diego, and performs mainly on the West Coast being regularly featured in major Doo Wop and Oldies shows alongside some of the era's greatest legends. Along with performing their own sets, they have recently provided their vocal talents for the sets of doo wop legends Kathy Young ("A Thousand Stars"), Joe Jones, original lead singer of the Pentagons ("To Be Loved"), and "Diamond" David Somerville, original lead singer of The Diamonds ("Little Darlin"). Because of this, Peter, Kevin, and Jim have been recruited to perform as The Safaris with original lead singer Jimmy Stephens.

Is it any wonder The Royals are so often billed as "West Coast A cappella At Its Best"!
