Stories of triumph, wrapped in humor, fresh ideas conveyed through poetry and prose. This is something different. This is inspiration and motivation at its very best from someone who triumphed over the most crushing defeat one can imagine.
Foreword by Lt. Colonel Jerry Melchisedeck, Sr. (USAF Ret.)
“Want to know why you will never hear Matthew D. Hutcheson or Annette, his wife, complain about what the government did to them? Or why you will never hear from them anything close to ‘victim’ or ‘woe is me’ talk? Because their story is not about what was done to them. Their story is about what they did to it! They stone-cold killed their tragedy! They defeated their defeat! They caused their failure to fail! They first subdued, then conquered the crisis, and ultimately ascended over it! Hutch spent ten years in prison, three of which were spent in solitary confinement or its equivalent, and no one heard him complain once—not other inmates, not the prison guards, not his family. No one. He and Annette owned the whole experience like the champions they are. They demonstrated total mastery over self and showed the world how to do it, too, if it would only learn from their experience. They are the embodiment of inspiration. Even some South Africans have called Hutch the ‘new Nelson Mandela.’ He crushed it and quietly ‘walked prison down’ while writing 13 books and helping over 200 inmates earn their GED or college degree. Annette went back to college to learn the law so she could help with Matt’s release, which is exactly what she did! These examples just scratch the surface. There is a reason two reporters have called Hutch, ‘America’s greatest citizen’ and ‘America’s unlikely hero.’ There may be others who are comparable to Matt and Annette, but I do not know who they might be. Think of the legacy they have left to their children and grandchildren! ‘Certain people’ tried to break them for over ten years and failed miserably. They turned it around on them. I guarantee that everyone who has ever interacted with Matt and/or Annette remembers them and will forever. There is no one I would rather listen to. I know no one in the worlds of media, academia, commerce, or politics who could have endured what they endured, or endured it the way they did. I know of no one with the impact and influence that they have. In my opinion, they have supreme credibility and integrity because when I honestly ask myself if I could have survived what they did, I cannot say I could. Everyone I ask is also terrified of that self-examination. Yet, Matt and Annette triumphed over that which made me shudder in terror to contemplate. Hutch has not hidden his prison experience in shame (he has nothing to be ashamed about—quite the contrary), but rather proclaims it freely for all to hear and understand. Their prison experience makes them, truly, ‘America’s greatest citizen[s].’ I want to hear and read everything they have to say. Oh, and do they have something to say! They are true living American heroes inspiring millions.”
Introduction by John Drudge (Canada)
“Hello, my name is John Drudge. If I seem familiar, you may have seen me on television in a UFC corner helping athletes perform at their very best. My profession is counseling, and I have degrees in psychology and social work. I am also a published author and poet. What I am about to share with you will change your life forever if you allow it. Matthew D. Hutcheson ("Hutch") spent ten years in prison—three of those years were in solitary confinement or its equivalent. During those three years, he wrote most of what has come to be known as The Philosophy of Hutch™. Hutcheson not only survived solitary triumphantly, he thrived in spite of it. Hutch’s experience is so awe-inspiring that even some in South Africa have begun to call Hutch "The new Mandela," a reference comparison to Nelson Mandela. The global fascination and curiosity surrounding The Philosophy of Hutch is being driven by how it empowers others to overcome tragedy, whether they have been to prison or not. Because you are in prison, you are experiencing crisis, duress, and trauma at this very moment, whether you have become normalized to the emotions of that environment or not. The Philosophy of Hutch can and will help you in ways few other things can because it was created in prison, because of prison, by a prisoner, who prevailed because of it. It is now my honor to introduce you to The Philosophy of Hutch.”
Matthew D. Hutcheson ("Hutch") was a policy advisor to all three branches of government and a prominent financial system expert. Then, he ended up in prison. It's a short "long-story" that he is happy to tell you all about. While in prison he developed a body of inspiring thought which is now called, "The Philosophy of Hutch™." His body of content consists of 13 books, five volumes of poetry, inspiring stories of survival and triumph, 124 YouTube videos, 30 motivational pre-game speeches, and hundreds of quotes on Instagram.
