Jeff Sterling has entertained at gigs since 1975.This International Caricature artist has great talent, a quick wit..and an outgoing,friendly personality. He is always on the go..traveling several times a year to Charente-Maritime Province on the scenic west coast of France where he entertains at many corporate and private functions (yes..he speaks French..AND Spanish..and some Japanese,Brazilian Portuguese and Italian).

Drawing caricatures since the age of 12 in the 7th grade at his Junior High School in Philadelphia. His fellow students (and some thugs) would 'howl' at his quick sketches of the teachers..and when he entered High School..he was named ART EDITOR of his school newspaper while only in the 9th grade.Sylvester Stallone attended the same High School although he is a few years older than Jeff. As a senior in high school..he was also named ART EDITOR of his senior class Yearbook..where he drew dozens of pen and ink caricatures of fellow students and teachers.

After college (he delivered pizzas for income at night and obtained Degrees in art and business)..he became Art Director at a small ad agency at 19th & Spruce Streets,Center City Philadelphia..and eventually moved to bigger and better opportunities...culminating with being named Director of Advertising at the Suburban Newspaper Group..10 weekly South Jersey publications..formerly based in Cherry Hill,New Jersey..owned by Gannett Corporation...parent company of USA Today. An entrepreneur at heart..he has a partial 'interest' in an internet travel business specializing in All Inclusive Resorts and marketing company for Licensed Contractors in PA,NJ & DELAWARE...and an atelier in La Rochelle,France!

The father of 3..Jeff moved to southeast Florida September 2004...from the Philadelphia-South Jersey & Wilmington,Delaware area, where he still has property.On a personal note Jeff's middle daughter is a PHYSICIAN..having graduated MEDICAL SCHOOL in Florida in May,2007..Specializing in Emergency Room Medicine. His oldest daughter..who was an Investigator-Supervisor with Broward Sheriff's Office graduated near the top of her class in Law School,May 2010 with a specialty in Family law ..and his son,a recent graduate of FIU, Miami is a marketing consultant..are all very proud of their 'flamboyant' dad..who has been a Licensed Private Pilot since October 1987...and Internationally collected fine arts painter.


From December 8,2010 until January 8, 2011..Jeff was in Western France..(and Madrid,Spain) for contractual obligations, a holiday art exhibit of his watercolors,acrylics and oil pastels..as well as enjoying the holidays with his 'better half'...petite amie..who recently retired from her career as a professor of linguistics in the French University System.

Influences

I enjoyed Mort Drucker and the other artists from Mad Magazine. In high school in Philadelphia..I was Art Editor of both our school newspaper..and in my senior year..I was named Art Editor of the Yearbook..so I had to create some very humorous caricatures of graduation students..and teachers!

Jeff Sterling..a popular ARTIST for more than 30 years has the BEST PERSONALITY for his profession. He loves inter-acting with guests..and can (sort of) converse in SPANISH and FRENCH.He is studying Italian,Brazilan Portuguese..and 'refreshing' his skills speaking basic Japanese..which he learned 15 years ago!!

His drawings are created in markers..either black & gray or full color and he 'tries' to portray his 'subjects' in a 'flattering manner!!' He 'loves' an audience..and guests are welcome to watch him create a caricature!

While drawing...Jeff likes to converse on a variety of topics. He is a Private Pilot..and travels to Europe quite often...where he is gaining momentum as one of the leading International Caricaturists!!

Additional Notes:
I normally draw the caricatures..'Face & Shoulders'..on acid free,white,'index card stock' (don't worry..that is a heavy paper..not index cards with lines (LOL).

I use black & gray markers and graphite or shading. Each completed caricatures is placed in a clear,heavy gauge plastic 'zip-lock' type bag for protection. An 'average' caricature of 'face & shoulders' takes about 5 minutes. Often..especially at Weddings..and large parties..couples like to be drawn together..so 2 people takes between 10 to 12 minutes.

Although I have an easel..it is best to have a small table for me to keep my art supplies handy..as well as 3 chairs..and good lighting....and/or nearby electrical outlet for my portable lighting.

I try to arrive about 30 minutes ahead of official 'start' time to set up my 'station'..easel & art supplies. You ARE NOT charged for the early arrival..or set up.
