Stress2Logic: Overcoming Human Stress
- Buffalo Grove, IL
- Leadership/Success Speaker
- Travels nationwide
- $2000 and up
Overview
Through the lens of a former public safety professional, Marcus Melnick has studied the human stress response his entire career and how to overcome the disabling cognitive and perceptual deficits resulting from "Fight or Flight." Now that he works in the Fortune 500 space, he has adapted overcoming the human stress response to criminal and mass violence and adapted it to the business world.
The human brain cannot differentiate between actual life and death danger and everyday stress (i.e., board meetings, sales calls, public speaking). Marcus takes a lay approach to teaching others how to voluntarily overcome the involuntary hormonal cocktail resulting from stress. Book Marcus, now.

What to Expect
Marcus prides himself on being flexible and mentally nimble. He has been involved in true life and death emergencies. When an issue comes up at a conference (i.e., another speaker cancels or a technical issue), he is a problem solver. Those issues, although stressful to a planner, are not going to cause physical injury, and Marcus often steps up to the plate.
Although Marcus uses PowerPoint as a visual element, he teaches from the heart and from experience, communicating his passion to audiences.
About
Marcus Melnick worked for 35 years in Public Safety Roles. He is a published author, radio show host, self-defense instructor, second generation inventor, and has multiple degrees. He also has taught on the graduate level.
During his career, he focused on protecting children from mass violence, and currently conducts Active Shooter Response Training in addition to the above.
One unique thing about Marcus is that he used to work in the entertainment industry. Past performances (which were comedy) prepared him to engage your audiences in a manner that is light hearted, fun, and educational. In fact, participants have so much fun, they don't even realize that they are learning, and time flies by during his presentations.
Marcus lives in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, with his wife, two teenage boys, and dog (which he talks about in some of his presentations).
Marcus is always available for questions.
Additional Booking Notes
Marcus asks for a podium, wireless microphone (if available) and to see the layout of the room before the presentation (so he can effectively move around to make points).
Influences & Inspiration
Marcus Melnick has had multiple personal and professional mentors throughout his career. Many are not well known outside of their industries, but the list includes:
Dr. Michael Langer (Retired Skokie Police Lieutenant and College Professor)
Walter Trentadue (Retired Skokie Police Officer)
Douglas Goldhamer (Religious leader)
John Fay (Retired Deputy Chief of the Glencoe Department of Public Safety and Northwestern University Professor)
Every child is influenced by their parents. Marcus's father, Larry Melnick, is credited as the lead design engineer for the first commercial photocopy machine, the first laminating machine, and several other patented items in various industries. Larry's technical creativeness has been passed down to him, and he addresses problems with the same creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
