About
Born and raised in Israel, Yael has always had passion for the arts. At a young age she moved to New York to discover her true love for her Middle-Eastern culture. She made it her mission to spread that culture wherever she goes. Yael majored in Music Business with a concentration in Voice at Hofstra University in New York. While singing in the Choir and Jazz Combos at Hofstra University, Yael founded a Belly Dance Troupe named "Shake It!". Shake It! was Yael's way to spread the culture of Belly Dancing on the Hofstra Campus. The club began with a performance group of seven members that put on yearly productions and charitable fundraisers. Yael used these productions to showcase her unique style of singing and belly dancing together. She began teaching at local gyms and performing her singing/dancing combination live at special events. Being mostly self-taught, Yael realized that she had a different take on the art of belly dancing. Yael's passion for the dance and the music she used, created her own modern belly dance fusion style she decided to name Zoanee™. Zoanee™, in Hebrew, means "gypsy" and when separated into two words, it means "this is me". Zoanee™ is Yael's way to take her style of belly dancing and share it with the world. Today, Yael is working on singing, writing and recording her own music and performing at local venues and private events.
