Sawgrass has been playing together since 1999 in the Grand Strand. We've opened for bands such as Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, Nashville Bluegrass Band, Grasstowne, Melvin Seals and the JGB, and Marshall Tucker. Our music contains a fun mix of traditional bluegrass to Americana acoustic music. Clubs, festivals, weddings, parties, etc.

Typically, our gigs range from 2 to 4 hours. For a 4 hour show, we will play three 1-hour sets with two 30-minute breaks. Of course, we are more than willing to be flexible with the situation and the clients' needs. We can also accommodate any requests to use a microphone for public announcements or speeches. We have a great time on-stage with each other and our audiences love the comradery.
Sawgrass got together in 1998, with it's two founding members, Robert Steuer Mandolin, vocals) and Jody Harrison (Guitar, dobro, vocals). Rich Viso is our very own Dr. Banjo, and has been with us for 14 years and the brilliant Corey Merchant on bass has been holding it down with us for a couple years now. We have played for large crowds, parties, festivals, weddings and just about every bar in the grand strand! Sawgrass is one of only a handful of bluegrass bands local to the Myrtle Beach area and we've played from Wilmington, NC down to Charleston, SC and all points in Between. The band has opened for several major artists including Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, Nashville Bluegrass Band, Grasstowne, Alan Bibey, Melvin Seals (of the Jerry Garcia Band) and even Marshall Tucker!
Our members bring a wide variety of musical knowledge and energy to the group. Our setlists consist of traditional bluegrass, Grateful Dead and americana music.
We have our own PA to accommodate up to 100 people and we run our own sound.
We really LOVE what we do and are blessed to be able to do this.
If we are providing the sound (PA), we only need a single 110w outlet for power. If the event is outdoors, then we will need a covered space to play, a 10x10 tent/canopy is the smallest (this is mainly in the event it starts to rain, electronics are sensitive to that). A flat, stable surface to play on is also very important. Lighting is to be provided by the client.
