Overview

About

A Fairy Tale and Happy Ending for these Uncertain Times:

I started playing harp as a young adult. How's that for surprising? In grade school I had danced for hours every day to music in our living room, plus I skated to music 2-3 times a week at the local rink fantasizing that I was a ballerina on skates. So, I guess that my affinity for music plus my desire from the age of 4 to play the harp finally manifested in an irrepressible urge to become a musician--much to my father's chagrin.

Within a year of moving from little Lacey, Washington to Seattle, a city with harps and harpists and harp teachers, I had auditioned for and was accepted into the School of Music at the University of Washington in Seattle. Here I finished an undergraduate degree. And then I moved to Austin, Texas where I completed a Master's degree in music at The University of Texas at Austin.

The next surprise was when I decided to find something to do that would make more money. Computers, I decided. And the surprise was that my music degree became my entree into the field of technology. They figured that anyone who could accomplish a music degree with its exacting detail would also be good at technology. Fortunately, because of the volatility in the technology market I've come back to my first love—the harp—and have devoted myself to such a much more lucrative endeavor(s). I also am a part time professor of music for the Lonestar College System in Houston, Texas.

I have played professionally for the last 20 years, taught many skilled young harpists, and in the last 5 years have enjoyed doing solely what I love best. And I recently played for President George H.W. Bush and Texas Governor Rick Perry.
