Here are some Q&A:
How far in advance should I book the band?
Generally 1 to 3 months in advance. For weddings and holiday parties, 6 to 12 months is a good guideline. As with most things, the sooner the better. Waiting longer generally means that fewer dates will be available. However, last minute situations do arise, and we often set up shows with just a few days notice.
How much room does your band need?
Each venue is different in their needs and Rok-Z tries to be flexible too. For instance our preferred stage size is 20-24 feet wide by 12 feet deep, but can still fit snugly onto a stage that’s 18 feet by 8 feet if that is what is needed for the venue.
What is sound/production/PA? Do I need it and how do I get it?
This refers to the sound system (and often lights) needed for our band to perform a show. Rok-Z brings our own sound systems, and if not we have an extensive network of sound production companies we can arrange for your show. The prices we quote you WILL INCLUDE any extra cost for production.
How long will it take to set up your equipment?
Depending on the venue, and the load in obstacles a typical set up, including a sound check, takes approximately 2 - 2 1/2 hours. If the venue is up-stairs or on the opposite side of the building from the load site it may take longer.
What about volume?
Volume is always at the discretion of you, the client. However it can be difficult to balance the dynamic required for a good performance against requests for very low volume. Also remember - drums have no volume control (other than the drummer), therefore a band with live drums can have difficulty with requests for very low volume. Rok-z will do everything to make sure that you are enjoying our music, and will play at an appropriate and comfortable volume level.
What is the band dress code?
Rok-Z dresses in a smart casual manner. It gets very hot on stage so jackets are unusual however, if you have a particular requirement please let us know and we dress according to your wishes.
How many breaks does the band usually take?
During a four-hour function, there are typically three sets with two breaks in between.
