Richard Horn is an amazing sleight-of-hand magician! i could not believe my eyes, even when i was 2 feet from the cards...or better yet, when i had the cards in my OWN hands! Aside from his brilliant chops, he is so warm and full of humor, that you feel immediately relaxed and have a fabulous fun time. Everyone got pulled into the act---we all wanted to be picked to participate! And at the evening's end, i did not want to leave. We all wanted more. Richard was so accommodating that his encore tricks put us over the top with wonder and all out laughter. This was one of the most enjoyable evenings i have ever spent.

About
I specialize in corporate events and private parties for adults. Recent engagements include birthday parties, corporate fundraisers, holiday parties, and block parties. Although my specialty is playing cards, I use other props, like rubber bands, money and dice, for some of the magic. I like to have spectators handle the props as much as possible, and I like to leave souvenirs for spectators, like a signed playing card. One common theme in a lot of my magic effects is gambling. I like to present demonstrations of cheating and a seemingly impossible ability to control cards. I also use mentalism demonstrations of several different psychic powers, like mental telepathy, precognition, and telekinesis.
I have two principle presentational styles, either 1) table hopping (strolling magic) where I mingle with several small groups of spectators, spending 5 to 15 minutes with each, or 2) parlor magic where I perform a 30-to-60 minute show for up to 30 spectators. For parlor shows I work from a small table, and I bring a cordless microphone and a small PA speaker.
I offer a guarantee on all performances. If you are not completely satisfied, the entire performance is free. After years of performing magic, no one has taken me up on this offer. This is a testament to my skills as a magician and as an entertainer.
In 2011, I was featured on WHYY/Newsworks as "Mount Airy's Card-Carrying Magician".
On February 6, 2012, I received the prestigious 2012 Phoenix Award from Chapter #165 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, winning First Place in their annual Close-Up Magic Competition. I am also a member of the Society of American Magicians.

My many influences are close-up magicians and comedians, including Bill Malone, Daryl, Tommy Wonder, Joshua Jay, Ricky Jay, Juan Tamariz, and David Blaine, among many others.
What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 60 - 240 minutes
My audiences experience amazement and delight. Although I mainly perform for adults, the magic elicits the kind of glee we have all felt as children. Everything I do is close-up and often occurs in the spectators' own hands.

I am self-contained for walk-around (strolling) magic. For parlor magic I will need a small table and enough lighting for props to be visible. Loud background music will interfere with my performances.
