Steve and his team are truly a gem in the world of production. Their professionalism and attention to quality is some of the best I've worked with. One of the real standouts about PSP is their attitude toward getting the job done; the whole team wants to have fun working hard, and it creates a chemistry on & off stage that I'm convinced the crowds can feel. They go the extra mile, and that means the world to someone like me. They have solidified themselves as my first call for production needs in the midwest.
Sound Technician
Steve is a true professional at what he does. Provides upfront information about venue. Professionalism and attention to detail is important to me. We have worked with Steve now for sometime and we know what we are getting when we hire him. Look no further.

Lighting Company, Sound Technician
Steve has done quite a few shows with my band Doozey and saying that he did a great job would be quite the understatement.
He gets what musicians want and need, and out of all the sound companys and people we have used, he is definitely the most prepared and professional.
If you want the best, look no further.

What to Expect
We show up 4-5 hours in advance of a performance so musicians can "plug n play" and we can get a full sound check in before the show starts. If it's a wedding, we can arrive as early as the venue allows so that we are set up and out of the way of decorators, catering, etc. Teardown usually takes 1.5-2hrs.
About
Hey! Steve here, owner of Point Source Productions. I have been working with live bands since 2010. I got started by working for numerous churches and also at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where I made connections to start my own business and began working with local bands. During that time, I worked for others who had their own production companies, I was in charge of technology at the university's conference center, and I was working for and with numerous churches in the greater Fox Valley area. In 2017, I officially launched Point Source Productions and began working with a number of local bands to provide sound and lighting for their events. Today I average around 120 events per year, becoming friends with everyone I work with.
One thing I'm particularly proud of is converting a lot of the local bands over to in ear monitors. Many people have tried them but don't know what they're doing and end up never trying them again. I make sure to take the time to educate people and give them an experience that changes their performance comfort forever. One thing I do is provide tablets so everyone can adjust their own mix -- but I also record sound check and play it back. This way, each person can individually adjust their mix without having to play/sing at the same time and it is an absolute game-changer.
Of course, I'm still fine if you don't want to use in ears. I've learned that musicians perform their best when they're the most comfortable on stage. So if that's in ears or a floor monitor, it's fine. BE comfortable!
So what am I running for gear? I'm a dealer for just about everything, so I can get whatever's needed for the gig. But what I run right now is an X32 Rack with the Midas DL32 stagebox for those warmer preamps. I have four wireless Sennheiser G4 in ears in stereo with an RF Venue Combine 4 and CP Beam antenna. In Ear quality is outstanding. For vocals we're running Earthworks WL40V capsules on Shure ULXD wireless as well as Sennheiser e935 wired mics. All of our direct boxes are Radial JDIs and J48s. Drums are a Solomon Mics subkick on the outside of the bass drum, a Shure Beta 91 inside, and then your choice of either Sennheiser e904 or Earthworks SR30 on the rest of the drums. The cymbals get those SR30s as well.
What about speakers? Glad you asked. We built our own. Our main speakers are a pair of B&C 12CXN88 coaxial drivers and can get incredibly loud while maintaining amazing quality. Our subs are Art Welter Keystones, using a single B&C 18sw115 18" driver in a tapped horn design to achieve more output than dual 18 with the same drivers. We get compliments on our bass quality and depth all the time. These aren't one-note subs and they are very directional. Oftentimes the band doesn't even know the subs are on because there's very little rear bleed. Venue owners love this too because their neighbors don't call and complain about the noise when we're running sound. Seriously, we have been told over and over that "This is the first time we haven't gotten a noise complaint. What are you doing differently?!" If you want to compare brands, our system is the equivalent of a Danley Sound Labs system with SM80 tops and TH118 subs in terms of output and sound quality. We have used two tops and four subs to cover up to 3000 people for a rock show. It's insane, but hearing is believing.
Here's the last bit and then we'll be done. Our goal at Point Source Productions is to provide YOU, the customer, with absolute professionalism. We communicate, we show up on time, we have a strict dress code for our team, we use clean language, we play clean music, and we own our mistakes should any arise. If that's something you're interested in, let's talk. Thanks.
Additional Booking Notes
Sound - Two main speakers and four subs - capable of handling a rock show with up to 3000 in attendance. Wireless and wired in ear monitors available, as well as floor monitors.
Lighting - Front wash lighting and rear stage pixel bars and up to twelve moving lights. Other lighting also available upon request.
Power (requirements)- We need at least two 20A circuits OR a single 50A 240/208v circuit with either a California receptacle or a Nema 14-50R receptacle within 50 feet of the stage. If power is not available, it is the responsibility of the buyer or venue to supply a minimum of one 15,000 Watt diesel generator. We will not tie-in to a property's power panel - an outlet MUST be provided.
Power (our promise to you) - When using a 50A service, we don't carry around a janky breaker panel with some outlets hooked up. We run 6awg cable into a Furman ASD-120, which balances out to six 20A 120v circuits. Additionally, those six circuits are then fed into six Furman PL-Pro DMC power conditioners to assure maximum protection and zero noise for audio equipment, guitar amplifiers, etc.
