Why hire Philosophy Slap?
We are the New Hampshire based original rock band, Philosophy Slap. In 2011 we released an album of Halloween Rock titled, Monsters With Attitude. We are a 4 piece band consisting of a singer/songwriter/guitarists, bass, an additional guitar, and drums.
We play mostly original material, but also specialize in 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s cover songs. Our influences are wide and varied ranging from Ac/Dc to Frank Zappa with some Django Reinhardt thrown in for good measure.
The Keene area is small with a lack of good venues for original bands. Every one around here plays Metal or Country and we have a hard time finding gigs that are not open-mics or freebee coffeeshop shows.
About
Our creativity flows between a multitude of talents. My name is Charles Hornbeck. I am one of the two primary songwriters along with my friend James Maynard. We both play several instrument. I play a mixture of rhythm and lead guitar while singing in my deep baritone vocal range. James currently is assigned to the bass. Together he and I have written mostly all of our original material. Our other instrumentalists include Matt Soubble on the other guitar, and Mark Tremblay on drums.

Influences
Phish, being a New England based band has always been influential. They can mix covers, original rock, comedy, and A Capella performances into a show. The Beatles, well now, they only changed the whole face of music forever. Frank Zappa crossed the line between rock and humor so... yeah him too.
What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 25 - 180 minutes
We have been known to give away strange band related items at our live shows. This includes tee-shirts, CDs, and flash drives. One may also never know what odd-ball cover song we will pull out of the hat. We know hundreds of cover songs, but focus on our own material. Inevitably something always breaks at our shows.
