I have been a stage manager, event coordinator and DJ for the last 12 years. I love playing almost any genre and can switch on a moment's notice. I love funk, disco, Top 40, Hip-hop and all Latin genres. I have a great voice for announcements having worked in radio for over 10 years. Let's work to create a great memories at your event! Ontoneyo’s professional experience came in clutch for a party we threw for Def Jam. His contacts and ability to provide pretty much all the materials needed were a huge help! I would certainly work with him again.
I inquired about a wedding and said we don’t like typical “wedding music” and would like something catered to us and our guests to keep the party going. I was called needy and demanding and told that he had no interest in working with Karen’s? I’m honestly just confused about this approach.
Response from Open format Dj and Stage Manager:
The request didn't say anything about a wedding.
Ontonio is absolutely fantastic! We hired him for our Spring Fling Dance at our assisted living community. He was flexible with me on location and working with the weather. We ended up having to hold our event in our lobby which he only enhanced. Not to mention the incredible atmosphere he created. His music selection was perfect for our event, but he was also willing to take requests. He was engaging with our residents, while also being personable. Multiple staff members asked for his information for a referral. We will definitely be working with Ontonio again!!! Two thumbs wayyyyy up!

I am cool, calm and collected when it comes to running an event. Punctuality and planning are my best friends when it comes to delivering, so no last minute scrambling or unexpected obstacle will derail us. I move at pace demanded for the event to run flawlessly and try to provide stability for the event. If everyone else is losing their mind, don't worry I got us. I am excellent at stage management, hosting, running giveaways and molding to what the event needs, so I am never shy about announcements or motivating the crowd to do something. I am clean with my set ups and try to make people have a great time without really noticing me. I have ran over 800 successful events of all types, so it's rare that something catches me I haven't seen. Let me be the stability you need at your event.
As a kid I used to record over all of my mother’s cassette tapes, anything I loved playing on the radio and by High School I would DJ all the house parties. Later in college, while working as a stage manager for a huge venue, I would have DJs not show up to gigs which would leave only me staring at two turntables, so I picked up DJing in the fire.
During my time at Metro State University, I was a writer, photographer and editor for the school papers, and simultaneously places like The Westword, where I learned the value of impeccable time-management. At night I was the stage manager at Casselman’s Bar and Venue hosting, and opening as a DJ, for acts like Naughty by Nature, Juvenile, Young Dro, Black Thought, Scarface, Tha Liks, Hieroglyphics, Too Short, Raekwon and more, where I learning the art of performance. At some point my street promotion and events led me to radio. When guest DJs would not turn in a mix on time, or the quality was not right, I started mixing all my own shows.
Around that time I began to DJ weddings and found that I was extremely talented at not only speaking on the mic but connecting with the couple to deliver the experience they were aiming for. That was almost 10 years ago and I have now DJed over 800 Weddings and over a thousand events, but I always remember that this is a once-in-a-lifetime event for those attending and try to make it as memorable as possible.
I grew up listening to vinyl records in my uncle's basement, stuff like Jazz, The Rat Pack, Motown, Disco, R&B and all the classics, so that leaks often into my sets, but I also love Latin: Salsa, Bachata, Moombahton, Cubathon, Reggaeton, Merengue, Mambo, Corridos, Banda and more. Of course as a radio DJ I keep up with Pop, Top 20, Hip-Hop, but delve into almost all genres of music including Country, regional Rap, EDM, exclusive remixes and other rare blends.
My passion for music and experience in many fields, helps me to deliver a near-perfect event every time. In my spare time, I love to cook for family and friends, read books, shoot films, do community work and hang out with my wife and two children.
I do have a full mobile set-up including speakers, wireless mics, lights and different controllers and turn tables. My utmost need always, is coverage from the rain and elements. Otherwise I am pretty self-sufficient. I can run a pop up event for 6-8 hours with no power literally.
