About

Louisiana; home of Bourbon street’s Mardi Gras and Creole food, is also known for its high murder rate and Voodoo but through it’s good and bad arises up and coming independent recording artist Maurice "Official Reese" Gilbert.
Reese was born in New Orleans, LA and raised in Vacherie, LA with his hard working mother “Barbara Braxton” and four (4) siblings, where he gathers most of his inspiration from but it was his father “Marshall Gilbert” who was an eminent neighborhood DJ that gave him his love for music.
Shortly After Hurricane Katrina devastated Reese’s birthplace in 2005, he left Louisiana to pursue his career as a rapper, he spent one (1) year traveling, spending time in Various cities in states such as Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and last but not least Tampa, Florida where he has resided since 2006.
With Louisiana and family in heart and mind it was hard to settle but finally he found place appropriate enough to give him a new start. Reese began to network in Tampa, rapping at cyphers, promoting and hosting various club events, not only getting notoriety but making friends and gaining a following of supporters throughout the entire Tampa, FL region.
Being from such a versatile city mixed in with the cities that he’s traveled too gives Reese a lot of experience and diversity to put into his music, and he has a wide variety of genres and styles but he dedicates most of his music to his true lifestyle, which is being the life of the party.
Reese says although his struggle and hardships bring forth inspiration he would much rather use it as motivation and focus on the enjoyment of living life to its fullest, and it reflects in his lyrics developing a unique propensity of party music that gives off an eruption of musical excitement and fun energy.
Reese performed alongside Mystikal, Fella, Wes Fif, Militant Military, 2Pistols, Pitbull, Twista, Black DaDa, and Haitian Fresh. He’s worked with great people such as DJ HeadBussa, Dj King JB, DJ Christion, DJ Big Hurt, DJ Benny Boom, Pneumoni, Nav, Infy, TrakMan, and Just Kris. He’s also worked with some of the biggest promotion teams in the Tampa area such as VybeNation, CreamTeam Inc, Blazin Ent, and QC Party Starters, and some of the best clubs such as Club Skye, Club Empire, Tabu, The Kennedy, and Club Aja at Channelside.
With one (1) of the hottest mixtapes out in the Central Florida area “Overtime 25/8 (Hard Work & Dedication)” is building a buzz bigger than he expected and Official Reese Is gradually climbing the ladder of success and gaining a lot of club spins with his single “Party Hard”.
