Religion-free, dogma-free wedding ceremonies in Sonoma County, custom-created to express your unique personality and preferences.
I am an ordained Interfaith minister who has been performing SBNR (spiritual but not religious) weddings, baby welcomings, house blessings, memorials and other rites of passage since 1995.
I can help you create a meaningful, original ceremony that reflects your personal spiritual and social perspective, and offers a wealth of creative ideas that incorporate readings, rituals and practices from a variety of cultures, traditions and world views.

I generally arrive 30-45 minutes before the ceremony (all the paperwork is done before we begin), and often end up acting as coordinator when a professional coordinator is not present. My style is casual and informal, and my primary goal is to make the couple as comfortable as possible so that the ceremony can be fun rather than solemn or stressful.
Here is an overview of my services:
HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
If you haven't already done so, please visit my website at (link hidden)
I generally meet with a couple in advance -- usually at my house in Sebastopol -- so we can get to know each other a bit and talk about the type of ceremony you envision. During this meeting you can present whatever ideas you have (but don't feel bad if you don't have any... most couples are pretty much a blank page at this point). I'll show you some sample ceremonies and explain the basic format of a ceremony, from processional to recessional, and suggest a variety of creative options. We'll also talk about general wedding logistics and planning. If it isn't possible to meet beforehand, don't worry... many couples come in from out of town (or out of the country) and we never have a chance to meet before the wedding. We can do everything via phone and email.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
If you decide you definitely want me to perform the ceremony, a $100 non-refundable deposit holds the date. Once we've confirmed the date, we'll work together via phone and/or email to create exactly the ceremony you want. A follow-up meeting isn't necessary, although occasionally a couple will request a second meeting to go over final details. I'm always available via phone or email to answer questions and help with any issues that arise.
CAN YOU PERFORM A CEREMONY IN ANY LOCATION WE CHOOSE?
Unlike traditional religious officiants who will only perform ceremonies in a church or temple, I can conduct a ceremony in any location you like... a hotel or restaurant, your house, on the beach or in a park... even at my own house.
HOW ARE YOUR FEES STRUCTURED?
My fees start at $250, and vary according to location (depending on how far I have to travel). Some couples want only a quick ceremony for just the two of them, perhaps with one or two friends present as witnesses. In that case, I can do the ceremony at my house (on my beautiful forest property) for $150.
WHAT ABOUT REHEARSALS?
Officiants generally don't attend wedding rehearsals... that's a tradition from church weddings when the minister was always at the church anyway, so he supervised the rehearsals. A rehearsal is mainly for the purpose of figuring out how to move people from point A to point B during the processional, and you can usually figure that out on your own (though I'll be happy to provide advice and direction). In some cases we can do a quick, same-day run-through immediately prior to the actual ceremony.
WHERE CAN I SEE A SAMPLE OF ONE OF YOUR CEREMONIES?
Go to my website at: (link hidden). There you'll find several links that will lead you to all the information you need, including ceremony samples, testimonials from couples, license information and much more.
CAN WE WRITE OUR OWN CEREMONY AND VOWS?
Absolutely! Most couples use my basic sample ceremony and add or embellish as they wish. You can choose texts, readings and rituals that appeal to you and resonate with your personalities. We can email back and forth, adding ideas as we go, and with just a few emails your ceremony will be complete.
RECEPTION
Because we come to you as service professionals, there's no expectation or custom that obliges you to invite your officiant to the post-ceremony celebration. However, if you choose to extend an invitation, I am always delighted to attend when my schedule permits.
Terri Daniel is an ordained interfaith minister who has performed more than 300 weddings since 1995. An interfaith minister functions in the same way as any member of the traditional clergy, with one exception... we are not affiliated with any particular spiritual tradition or religious doctrine.
Terri can create any type of ceremony you want, using content and inspiration from the tradition of your choice, whether Western theology, Native American culture, Celtic, Pagan, Buddhist, Unitarian or any other form of relationship with the divine. She has performed weddings for all budget levels, from a casual affair in a back yard to a formal gathering of 1000 guests.

The only technology I require is a microphone for myself and the couple. Many couples don't realize that in a large room or an outdoor setting, the audience cannot hear what we're saying without amplification.
Also, if the wedding is outdoors during summer, please try to provide shade. Having your guests and wedding party wilt in the heat does not make for a very pleasant experience!
