A performance by Kirsten Ekstrand will be a combination of technical skill and musical artistry. Whether pop, sacred, or classical music, Kirsten brings a level of musicality not found in the average pianist. You will enjoy everything from soothing, quiet melodies to boisterous performance gems.
Kirsten Ekstrand has been playing piano since she was six years old. She has performed in a variety of competitions and master classes; in 2011, she played in a master class with legendary teacher Ann Schein. From 2008 to 2012, she studied piano at the Moody Bible Institute in downtown Chicago, where her teacher was Dr. Un-Young Whang. While there, she toured nationally and internationally with the Women's Concert Choir, performing in Israel, Canada, and the United States. Currently, she is active in the music program in her local church.
Kirsten brings a wealth of repertoire and flexible selection to the table. Classical music, standard wedding repertoire, sacred music, and popular charts are all options.
In event planning, she typically works with the hosts to determine style and selections. If determined in advance, she is open to requests for specific repertoire, although she prefers to aid in finding the particular arrangements.
Planning an event with Kirsten as the pianist means more than giving her a list of tunes to play. She offers professional advice on music selection, the length of the performance, the quality of the arrangements, and the suitability of the piece for the occasion.
A grand piano is preferred. An acoustic piano (NOT an electric piano) is required for booking.
I offer a variety of classical, sacred, and popular music, including standard wedding literature. Contact me for more information about repertoire offerings.
