Bar/Loungeiv seen her a few times now and still is awesome every time i see it. good dancing and it has what makes everything better...fire. iv also met her after her performances and at her fire performer gathering. it was great to hang out with her and other veteran fire spinners. performances like the ones she does it the difference between the free un-insured amateurs and the dedicated professionals.

Trade ShowI saw these amazing performers at a low key art showing and performer showcase. Their movement was fluid, Durham was amazing and the fire show itself was incredible! It seems like Lisa and her crew were born to do this and have been sling it their whole lived I would love to see them again would be more than happy to hire them, im not sure they perform 4 hours away though.....

Response from Movement Mosaic:
We perform anywhere! ;-) Thanks so much and I hope to perform at Round 2 of the showcase!

Overview

About

The Act:
If your vision is for a Fire Show, we have an enormous amount of styles and props to show you! Never seen a Fire Show? (Not many have!) Of course we recommend you check out our full profile for videos and pictures, but here's an idea of what you might experience with us:

Our performers seem to be able to set anything ablaze! You'll see Fire Eaters putting flames out with their mouth, or holding a flame with their lips like a human candle! We'll wield a 5 foot Fire Staff (as you see in modern Polynesian shows!) or a flaming scimitar and ignite beautiful Fire Poi that will arc across the sky like dancing meteors! Then there is the classic Fire Breather and the giant fire ball coming straight from his mouth! What's this? The Fire Eater is back? This time she's leaving trails of orange and blue flames on her arms without getting burned! How about seeing a dancer inside a flaming hula hoop? (You really need to see this!) Then are are the majestic Fire Fans and Fire Hip Belt - believe us, you'll remember this!

While the flames are amazing, we also do incredible shows using Glow props or classic sideshow circus such as Glass Walking Stilt Walking and Bullwhip targeting. You can even include a live Djembe drummer in your package!

The Atmosphere:
That's the props - but what about the theme and style? Our sets can be tailored to Pop, Hip-Hop, Middle Eastern, Country or even Classical music! We can do completely non-fire shows and even give hula-hoop workshops to adults, children and special needs populations! Our collective education and experiences are far too much to list here, so suffice it to say that you should tell us what you've dreamed up - we've done some interesting, off-beat work and don't plan to stop anytime soon!

The Length:
While any act can be customized, our typical hired shows are 20-30 minutes long and can be broken into five or ten minute sets - whatever fits your needs.

The Stage:
Movement Mosaic provides all needed equipment, including a battery-powered amp suited for audiences of up to 50. (For larger events, we simply plug our MP3 player right into your system!) Space requirements for Fire Eating, Palm Torches and Fire Body Painting, 8 foot ceilings and 10X10, non-carpeted floor are safe. All other fire arts require at least a 12 foot ceiling (some higher) and at least a 20x20 non-carpeted space. Inside spaces must be well ventilated.

The Safety:
Movement Mosaic maintains EXTREMELY high safety standards and will not make allowances that put our customers, audience or venue in danger! We implement the meticulous safety standards of the Wildfire Training Retreat as well as adhering to the guidelines of our fire performers' insurance membership with Specialty Insurance. For any performance including a fire act, at least one trained Safety Coordinator will be staffed to maintain the fuel station as well as venue, audience and performer safety!

Personnel

Lisa the Human Candle: Director, Teacher, Performer
Erika Bansen: Performer
Matthew Monette: Safety Coordinator

Influences

The attitude and energy of fire performances such as A Different Spin (Boston) and Miss Molotov (Montreal) and the movement styles (not to mention instruction!) of Joya Powell of The People's Dance Company and Zoe Jakes of Beats Antique are some of our influences.

But let's get real... the real role model of any fire performer is Lumiere the talking candelabra from Disney's Beauty and the Beast!!!

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 10 - 180 minutes

Movement Mosaic blends choreographed, improvisational and interactive elements! Our love for our work commands a magnetic atmosphere that will leave your guests awestruck and inspired, whether you want a full-flame Fire Show or a single Hula Hooper to teach your guests what they can really do. A fusion of dance, theater and circus-style props with talents running the gamut of Tribal Brazilian dance to Go-Go, we can fit any venue and enjoy tailoring new acts for any theme!

Stage/Setup Requirements:
Movement Mosaic provides all needed equipment. Please see space requirements.

Additional Notes:
Movement Mosaic maintains EXTREMELY high safety standards and will not make allowances that put our customers, audience or venue in danger! We implement the meticulous safety standards of Wildfire Training Retreat as well as adhereing to the guidelines of our insurance membership, which can be found here: http://www.wearesafe.org/?page_id=71

For any performance including a fire act, at least one "Safety" person will be staffed to maintain the fuel station, audience safety and performer safety. This person will be professionally trained and have fire extinguishing equipment on site during all performances.

Space requirements: for Fire Eating, Palm Torches and Fire Body Painting only, 8 foot ceilings and 10X10, uncarpeted floor are safe. All other fire arts require at least a 12 foot ceiling (some higher).

Set/Song/Sequence List:
Our sets are varied depending on the event, but you we always have a wide variety of stunt skills and dance styles to show you!

Here's a sampler set list for a 20 minute Fire Show with three performers:

Fire Staff (Whoaaaa)
Fire Eating & Body Painting (Did she really just put that in her mouth?)
Fire Torch Poi (Oh my...)
Fire Hip Belt & Palm Torches (::Cat call::)
Fire Hula Hoop & Fire Fans (WHAT the...?!?)
Triple performer Fire Poi Balls Finale! (WOOOOO! More more more!!!)
