Hello! Mac's Karaoke has provided karaoke fun in the local DMV metro area since the late 1990s. Around the mid-2000s, (more than 15 years ago), I joined Mac's Karaoke as karaoke host / DJ. We host Karaoke nights, Trivia nights, Private House parties (backyard parties, BBQs), Birthday parties, Office holiday parties, Weddings, New Year's Eve events, Super Bowl events -- outdoors and indoors within venues all across Maryland, Washington D.C. and northern Virginia. Currently we maintain over 65,000 songs in our karaoke song-list catalog. We regularly post our karaoke videos on Facebook. And we look forward to meeting you!

I absolutely MUST *brag* about this: During my karaoke career that began around 2006 or so, I've worked two (2) local venues in Maryland where I hosted karaoke every week, for ten (10) years, EACH. In other words, I, myself hosted karaoke FOR A FULL DECADE, S.T.R.A.I.G.H.T. at two (2) different Maryland venues, (at the same time) -- at Timbuktu restaurant in Hanover, MD from 2007 until 2017; and at T.G.I. Fridays on Tech Road, Silver Spring from 2008 until 2019. That means I held down THE SAME TWO (2) weekly karaoke gigs for 10 years, during a span of three (3) back-to-back U.S. Presidential administrations: Bush, Obama, Trump, continuously, without being dropped. I'm currently, actively, working on my third venue, where I've been hosting since 2016 -- I'm on my eighth year -- so, in 2026, I will, fingers crossed and God willing, happily report that I've hosted karaoke at Sake Sushi in Glen Burnie, MD also for 10 years -- from 2016 to 2026. GOD WILLING in 2026, I will be able to say, I hosted karaoke at (3) different Maryland venues for TEN YEARS EACH; by myself, no MC on the mic, no side assistant, rarely a backup, I rarely call out, just me.
One of my best / most iconic nights hosting karaoke at T.G.I. Fridays: we ran out of drinking cups during my karaoke night. It was standing-room only, that night, those days. It was Christmas Eve, maybe 2009 or so. I had to keep announcing to the crowd that we ran out of drinking cups in the entire building--every drinking cup in the entire restaurant was being used, during my karaoke night and folks were still trying to come in. The place was packed. Back then, when I merely walked into the room for the first time just to put my bags down and get ready to start my karaoke shift in 20 minutes, the room would break into applause and whistles, just for me. (That used to embarrass the hell out of me, but I really appreciated the love.)
Legend has it that the corporate office of T.G.I. Fridays allegedly knew me by my full name. Because they couldn't believe one of their own T.G.I. Friday's restaurants employed the same karaoke DJ for 10 years, straight, every Wednesday, every week, the same KJ, for ten long years. But it's true. I worked at TGI Friday's on Tech Road, Silver Spring for 10 years hosting karaoke on Wednesday nights at first from 9pm-1am and then 8pm-midnight from 2008 until 2019. Think about that, please: that means I outlasted bartenders, managers, district managers, dishwashers, hell, marriages, you name it. Every Wednesday, when I worked, I had to sign a form notifying that I accepted / collected my cash payment. So, TGI Fridays has a 10-year collection of my single signature on different papers accepting payment. That's 52 weeks in a year, for 10 years, so, that's over 500 sheets with my single signature. Their corporate office wondered if it was fraud, allegedly. Legend has it that their corporate office sent spies to travel to my TGI Fridays to see if I was an actual, real person and not just a slick bartender signing off paperwork and pocketing corporate money. They also allegedly wanted to check me out and my show to see was it really worth it to keep me for ten (10) years straight; I mean who does that? And do you know how long ten years actually is? It's a long time! That's a kid being born and going all the way to 4th or 5th grade. Bartenders would casually tell me, 'When I started working here, you were already here doing karaoke and I was single. Now I'm married with a kid in second grade and another kid in kindergarten and you're STILL HERE, hosting karaoke here every Wednesday. How do you do it?'
One of the managers confessed this to me, about the corporate office spying on me to see if I was a real person, so take all this with a grain of salt, but I was there, I believe it. I never knew when the corporate office dropped by to check-in on me to see if I was real or some fraudster's imagination. I heard they captured pictures of me and videos. Please think about it: it's a corporate office of a national company--how many times you think the corporate office of a nation-wide company randomly changes their accountants? And then to be an accountant there and to see my name keep coming up, week after week, year after year, after year, after year, for 10 years. You can work as an accountant for corporate for 3 years or 4 years, quit and move on and yet, still my name is popping up every week. Because, dude, I was there for ten (10) long years, man! And during this time, I briefly worked at the TGI Fridays in Greenbelt. As well as helped play music at a grand opening of a TGI Fridays in P.G. County. Not only did I host weekly karaoke at TGI Fridays for 10 years, I was also their deejay for their annual in-house Bartender Battle for charity, plus ringing in The New Years Eve, sometimes, or Super Bowls, sometimes, and Halloween, each year, you name it.
Don't think about coming for me, looking for proof. You know I have Facebook posts, tweets on Twitter, YouTube videos that back up my ten full years, proving I hosted karaoke at TGI Fridays for those 10 long years, man, don't even think about playing me like that. Come, feel free to find out the hard way, like corporate, that I'm for real, for real.
Ask yourself: who else do you know in the state of Maryland, or any other U.S. state that hosted karaoke for 10 years at one place, continuously. Wait, I did that twice. At TWO different businesses. And I'm rounding third base. Venue #3 is on deck, got 2 more years to go. And, lemme throw in: I've been the karaoke host for a friend's backyard BBQ every summer, every August since 2009, so this is year #15.
Meanwhile, you and I both know a karaoke DJ that will get their gig dropped abruptly by a local venue within a month or two. They hold down venues for weeks, get dropped. Over here, we hold down venues with karaoke--by the decade. Over 3 different U.S. Presidents. We are not the same!
I am a 90s graduate of The University of Maryland, College Park and a proud member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. I've appeared on TV at least twice. I'm also a published poet.
