Leo Lopez has been playing guitar for over 20 years and is a conservatory graduate. He performs in all of the major hotels in Orlando and Miami. He works with all of the major booking agencies and has excellent references.
About
Leo Lopez was born on the Caribbean coastal town of Ponce, Puerto Rico. In his small community of Belgica the musical style of Bomba y Plena was born. From his childhood room he listened to the musicians in the streets jam until the wee hours of the morning. At the age of three his mother bought him his first guitar and he was hooked. His formal training started at the age of eight in the public school system and continued with private lessons until he was one of the chosen few to study in the arts academy in his town.
At the age of seventeen Leo journeyed on his own to the InterAmerican University in San German, Puerto Rico to study Classical guitar. Due to his exceptional talent he was accepted to the prestigious Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico where he attained his BA in Music . As a student at the conservatory he was selected to perform at the Heineken Jazz Festival.
Once he graduated, Leo began performing seven nights a week in a flamenco jazz guitar duo with tremendous success. For the next eight years he performed at all of the top hotels in Puerto Rico as a soloist as well as in a duo, trio and quartet format. Some of the corporate clients that contracted him several times a year for their events were: Bacardi, Don Q, American Airlines, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Nissan, and the Ronald McDonald House Charity. He relocated to Orlando with a desire to bring his music to the US. He currently performs at Corona Cigar Company weekly, is contracted by Disney, Universal, several of the top booking agents and literally all of the hotels and convention centers in Central Florida. Presently Leo performs as a soloist emphasizing his unique latin-flamenco fusion. He also has a guitar duo that he has named Acoustic Passion, and an AfroCuban quartet named Old Havana Social Club. The newest venture of this talented guitarist is a sextet named Pasion Gitana which is a unique band that fuses flamenco, salsa, reggaeton and hiphop featuring Leo as the band leader and a beautiful young female singer.
