About

My name is John LaMedica, but I have been known as “Jungle John” for the past 25 years. I consider myself an “Edutainer.” After receiving my degree in Zoo keeping from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida in 1982, I became the supervisor of the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington, Delaware. I was there for 6 years; in addition to my animal care and supervisory responsibilities, I also did animal shows with their “Traveling Zoo” program. In 1988 I left to begin my own business: Jungle John Entertainment. Since 1988 I’ve entertained audiences ages 1-100 with my fun and educational reptile shows. Always with me is “Wally Gator,” a 5-1/2 foot American alligator, and “Julius Squeezer,” a 11-foot albino Burmese python, in addition to over a dozen other reptile and amphibian friends (and a few from the insect world as well – nothing dangerous or poisonous). My shows include interesting facts and stories that are presented with a fun and entertaining style. I perform over 500 shows a year and have been seen at the Grand Opera House, the Museums of Natural History in Delaware and Philadelphia, the Governor’s mansion, and many other venues. I’m a featured attraction every year at “First Night” festivities in many states, including Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. I am also a two-time Guinness World Record Holder, and have been seen nationally on the “Guinness World Records: Primetime”, Ricki Lake, and “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!” television shows to name a few. I perform for corporate events, trade shows, day care facilities, birthday parties, retirement and nursing homes, and everything in between. I am also available for movie, television and print ad work.

In addition to the reptile shows, I am also a very accomplished balloon artist. I do balloon twisting at different restaurants 3-4 nights per week. I also have several other shows that I perform, the most popular being my “Man Eating Balloon Show.” The finale of that show involves me climbing inside of a giant 6-foot round balloon that I blow up with a leaf blower. I also perform comedy magic and have quite a few shows that have been tailored for specific events (i.e., a Halloween Safety Show that I do for daycares). One of my specialties is being able to customize the entertainment for the event.

I can also work as an “event planner” as we have done many times over the past 25 years. We can provide face painters, balloon twisters, stilt walkers, magicians, caricaturists, etc. for any event. I am a full-time entertainer. I will always get back to you promptly, have never missed a “gig”, and have never had anyone harmed in any way at any of my shows. References are available upon request.
