I'm Jenny Rocha, the director of a cabaret dance troupe called "Jenny Rocha & Her Painted Ladies".

Types of dance/acts: Jazz, Tap, Modern, Partnering, Comedy Dance, Burlesque, Mime, Stomping, Can-Can Dance, Percussion acts

Types of venues/events: variety shows, burlesque shows, corporate events, weddings, fashion shows, fundraisers, commissioned evening length shows, art galleries, performing art events, clubs, outdoor festivals and more

Number of dancers: groups can be booked between 3-7 dancers, solo and duet shows are also available

Event planners can expect an entertaining, funny, sexy, theatrical show with performers who are professionally trained dancers.

Bio:
Jenny Rocha is a director, choreographer, performer, producer, costume designer and teaching artist. She is currently a teaching artist at The Brooklyn Academy of Music for their “Dancing Into the Future” program, a resident artist at Galapagos Art Space (Jenny Rocha & Her Painted Ladies), and is working on a new one-woman show with mime artist and director Gary Shore. As a dancer, she has worked with noted companies such as Heidi Latsky Dance, Sean Curran Company and mentor, Kelli Wicke Davis. As choreographer and artistic director of her Brooklyn-based company, Rocha Dance Theater, Jenny has created over 50 works and 11 evening-length productions since 2001. Her choreography has been presented by numerous venues and events in New York City such as Danspace Project, Joyce Soho, LaMama ETC, Galapagos Art Space, 92nd Street Y, Dixon Place, Mulberry St. Theater, Chashama Theater, DanceNOW, Dance Conversations at The Flea Theater, The Improv Comedy Club and more. Jenny has also choreographed various off-off broadway productions directed by Chris Henry. She has received support from The Puffin Foundation, The Thomas Moore Foundation, Danspace Project’s Commissioning Initiative and The Emerging Artist Grant from Greenstreet Studios in Boston. As a teaching artist, she has taught at Roger Williams University (2001-2011), West Virginia University, ACDFA at Connecticut College, NYC’s Dance New Amsterdam and various public schools for the organization, CREATE!. As an artist, she is dedicated to creating provocative e dance that is both artistic and entertaining, with a wide appeal to general audiences.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 3 - 60 minutes

Our acts are entertaining, funny, smart and technical. Many of the acts tell witty short stories or have themes. We have been described as "fly girls for thinking people" by nonsensenyc.com and also describes as "hilarious manic tootsies" by The New York Times! We can adapt our acts to many different events and shows as well. The acts can incorporate burlesque or not.

stage or space big enough, appropriate floor

Additional Notes:
The stage size and/or floor is an important factor for all events booked. For a large group of 5, a stage or space that is at least 12 ft deep and 20 ft wide is needed. Dressing areas/bathroom are also important for our costume changes.
