Jamie did an amazing job playing at our wedding ceremony and exceeded any expectations we had. He was easy to communicated with and displayed a very high level of professionalism. What impressed me the most is that even though we made a special song request just a couple of days before the event, Jamie was not only able to accommodate it, but he made a very special arrangement that made the song much more appropriate for the event. I cannot recommend Jamie enough!!!
Jamie provided a fabulous and soothing atmosphere for our 200+ guests for a Sunday afternoon gathering. We highly recommend this talented artist.
Jamie Ruben is an incredible artist. Jamie was kind enough to send me samples of his music ahead of time. We met and signed a formal contract. For the occasion, he arrived professionally dressed, on time ready to play. Jamie understood the audience and played music accordingly. Jamie is definitely a well-established and professional artist.
As an event coordinator for a corporation, my job is to ensure everything runs smoothly, including the entertainment. With hiring Jamie Ruben, I had full confidence in my selection and would definitely recommend him if you are looking for a successful event.
Jamie did a terrific job playing at a large private party for me. The music set a lovely mood and many of our guests commented on how great & appealing the music was.
He was very polite and easy to work with and I would recommend considering him for a small, medium or large function.

Jamie Ruben has been travelling the world as a successful professional jazz guitarist since the year 2000. Jamie has a diploma in Jazz Performance from Humber College, one of Canada’s finest music schools where he studied with some of Canada’s most famous jazz musicians. During his studies Jamie was educated in a wide range of jazz material, improvisation, composition, performance and ensemble work. With the experience of years of professional playing Jamie has also become a seasoned player of many genres of music as well as having fine tuned his solo guitar set of jazz and eclectic pieces.
Jamie provides both conventional jazz and party band options for events, weddings, dinners and functions. He has found himself in increasing demand to put his own spin on things.. Traditional jazz has historically been a conventional option for background music (cocktails, dinners, corporate events etc..) however, when requested Jamie has begun using his own eclectic jazz for these sorts of functions and has been greated with a tremendous response. By adding subtle elements of danceable modern rhythms into this sort of music the result is a brand of jazz that is chic, current, stylish and reaches today's audience.
Jamie’s original music draws from a wide array of influences. From Mingus and Myles to the likes of Bjork, Medeski Martin and Wood, Coldplay and Alicia Keys, Jamie takes in an array of modern and old music, combined with elements that are organic, distinctive and groove hard. Jamie is also a seasoned performer of traditional Jazz as well as pop, rock, blues and R & B. He is a seasoned professional both in the world of concerts and festivals as well as private events, weddings and functions.
Born into the lack of turbulence of the Toronto suburbs in 1980, Jamie’s life as an imaginative daydreamer, artist, creative voice and, eventually, an adventurous musician, composer and journeyman began. After a number of years of full time performing abroad Jamie returned to his hometown of Toronto in the spring of 2010 and was quickly recognized as an important new musician/composer on Canada’s eclectic music/Jazz scene.
Jamie’s Canadian debut album Groove•O•Ly•O•Scene reached #2 on national radio charts and led to him being awarded prestigious grants by the Ontario Arts Council. Jamie had the privilege of recording his music with a who’s who of top creative Canadian musicians such as Steve Zsirai on Bass (Jill Barber, David Usher, Royal Wood, Shakura S’aida and many more), William Sperandei on Trumpet (Michael Kaeshammer, Harry Connick Jr., Colin James, Brandi Disterheft, many more), Dafydd Hughes on Keys (Feist, Esthero, Julie Crochetiere, Jacksoul, James McCollum, Christine Bougie, many more) and Ryan Granville-Martin on drums (Martin Tieli, Mia Sheard, and many more).
His Debut album recieved great reviews such as:
"Guitarist Jamie Ruben's Groove•O•Ly•O•Scene is an absolute treat for the ears...... it possesses a marvellously spacious ambience, woven through with fantastic grooves" - Florence Wetzel (link hidden)
Jamie has extensive experience performing his own music and in other settings around the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario. This year Jamie was hired to perform 120 concerts around Ontario in McDonald's location in an effort to brand McDonald's McCafe launch as an artistic, chic and more upscale location for coffee.
Jamie has toured his own music in the United Kingdom, Holland and Belgium. He has an enthusiastic and growing following for his music in Europe.
Jamie spent time living in Asia where he established himself as one of the top guitarists on the continent. In this time he performed at top venues, festivals and hotels for an audience that ranged from tribal arts communities to the top elite communities on the continent including the Thai royal Family.
In the past year, Jamie has launched his current Canadian project and performed all over Ontario, including the Oakville Jazz Fest, the Thornbury Jazz by the Bay Concert series, Saturday Night at the Rex Hotel in Toronto and shows in Hamilton, Niagara and around Greater Toronto.
