Golosa presents the rich tradition of Russian folksong, with a focus on the polyphonic music of the Cossacks and the Old Believers.
We draw repertoire from primary source recordings, including many songs collected on our own ethnographic trips to the Siberian Transbaikal. Almost no one else outside Russia performs music in these traditions, which include passionate ballads of love, war, and death; plaintive laments and odes to nature; and hilarious, joyful romps.
Whether a cappella or with accordion accompaniment, we offer authentic, lively, starkly beautiful performances for anyone with interest in Russian or Central Asian music and culture. Traditional Siberian costume available.
The Golosa Russian Choir attended Munster Parks and Rec's 2nd annual Culture Fest this past weekend. First of all, I appreciate them traveling to our event as Munster, IN isn't an easy commute from Chicago on a Saturday. They were so friendly and on top of things and they sounded AMAZING! The person that managed everything sent me all of the documents in a timely manner and the booking process was so easy!
Response from Golosa Russian Choir:
Thanks, Mara! We had a great time despite the heat, and we look forward to performing with you again in future years.
