Global Artists Collective (GAC) provides professional, fun entertainment for festivals, schools, theatres, parties, club shows, and other events. We have bands and dance groups from traditional cultures (African, Brazilian, Spanish, and more), World Beat styles, and contemporary Soul/R&B/Pop. Our roster includes Maya Soleil (Africa/Caribbean), Global Heat (Soul/R&B/Dance), TRIBE-olution (Africa/Brazil/HipHop), Draze (HipHop/Zimbabwe), Duo Flamenco (Spain), Acoustic Fantasy (eastern Europe) and Safar Blues (France/Algeria). MAYA SOLEIL presents an electrifying show of multicultural music, blending traditional African percussion and vocals with contemporary sounds in a jazzy, dance mix. Costumed vocalist/dancer Moye Kashimbi, from Zambia, charms the audience with vocals in several African languages and English, with her solo dance, and with audience-interactive dance and song. The ensemble includes six members from Africa, Jamaica, the Philippines, and the U.S., with keyboards, saxophones, flutes, balafon, electric bass, various ethnic percussion, and a special world drum kit.

Global Heat has spread its brand of the new Seattle sound to diverse audiences around the world, from Seattle’s Intiman Playhouse and MoPop SkyChurch, to the Shanghai International Music Festival (China), to the renowned Montbleu Theatre at Lake Tahoe. Global Heat won the 2011 Jammin’ Challenge and has received grant funding from Seattle Next50, 4Culture, and Theatre Puget Sound.

TRIBE-olution explores the roots of hip hop dance in African, Brazilian-Capoeira, and Asian Kung Fu traditions through cross-cultural dance moves and contemporary music. The ensemble is a collaboration of the world-champion break dance crew Massive Monkees and hip hop soul band Global Heat with traditional performing artists of Africa and Brazil, including choreographer and dancer Dora Oliveira (Brazil) and members of Capoeira Malȇs (Brazil), Dounia Djembe (Guinea), and Sohoyini (Ghana).

DRAZE - Forging a new path in contemporary world music, hip hop artist and Zimbabwean griot Draze (aka Dumisani Maraire, Jr) blends African traditions with spoken word and live hip hop. Raised in a premier musical family of Zimbabwe and performing since age five, Draze brings Zimbabwean marimba and Shona-language vocals into his positive hip hop mix. With conscious lyrics and multi-media visuals, Draze is currently gaining national recognition for his music video ‘The Hood Ain't the Same’, which targets the issue of gentrification in historically black urban neighborhoods.
ERIC & ENCARNACION's DUO FLAMENCO is an internationally renowned flamenco duo known for the deep connection and intense energy permeating their performances. With Flamenco de Raiz and world/rock super-group Children of the Revolution, E&E have played sold-out theaters across the NW, including Meany Hall, the Paramount, Benaroya Hall, KPC, and the Triple Door; toured globally; and headlined Quebec's prestigious World Guitar Festival. Audiences will feel the raw emotion of this centuries old art form, while experiencing the authentic depth, originality and startling range of these world-class artists.

ACOUSTIC FANTASY is an instrumental group fronted by guitar virtuoso Sergey Ignatov. The sonic landscape of their music is centered around a mix of styles like Flamenco, Jazz and World music - and is paired with a contemporary approach to composition with fluid virtuosity and passion, creating a beautiful feeling in listeners.
SAFAR BLUES is led by French Algerian Kader Sunday, a master of African-style blues guitar. Safar Blues presents a magical mix of African and western genres with influences from The Alman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Amar Sundy of Algeria, and Ali Farka Tour and Tinariwen of Mali. Kader Sundy has appeared throughout Europe and the Northwestern U.S. with famous bluesmen like Joe Louis Walker, Correy Harris, Luther Allison, Willie Kent, and Amar Sundy.

1. Rhymes & Beats: Playing with Words When Rhythm Counts!
This is a performance and discussion, with some audience participation. A program by Global Heat developed in collaboration with King County Library Systems.
2. Hip Hop Handbook: Real Hip Hop Culture, Its History, and Positivity

3. Breakin’ Workshop
Participatory b-boy/b-girl dance workshop led by member of Global Heat or our partner b-boy crew Dog Pound
4. African Drum & Dance Workshop
Participatory workshop led by master-level African artists.
