Response from Flatland Drive Bluegrass Band:
The event was located on the North River which is a tributary feeding the Chesapeake Bay in the Tidewater area of southern Virginia. On October 1 2022 Hurricane Ian was still raging from the Carolinas, Virginia and Maryland. The exact location was level with the river and under a 1-2 foot flood warning issued by NOAA, also the governor of Virginia had declared a state of emergency. Our band was to travel 4 hours during this storm in unknown areas and weather. I spent 18 years working for the Maryland Park Service, in that time I have seen and been involved in water rescues in the bay and rivers, I know how quickly the conditions can change in a hurricane/tropical storm. The venue owner was determined to hold the event outside of NOAA warnings and The Virginia State of Emergency Management. I believe our judgement for safety outweighs her poor rating.
Tremendous band. Great group of musicians!! Will use them again for this event for sure.
Awesome group of guys put on a great show answer any questions you may have play from gospel to blues to honky tonk country always a good croud when they start playing all ages welcome
Response from Flatland Drive Bluegrass Band:
Thank you coming to the show. We really enjoy the intimate close venues where we can interact with the audience. We also like to inform as well as entertain our listeners and invite children to visit our instruments. Thanks again for helping pack the house.
These guys know their bluegrass and their instruments and how to do weddings. This was a non-amplified venue, outdoors, and they managed to fill the place with a warm and festive ambiance. Great instrumentalists and very together as a band. Folks kept asking me where I found them. I heard nothing but good feedback, much of it from people who were unfamiliar with bluegrass and had no idea that it could be such a moving and dynamic genre of music. Highly recommend them for weddings.
Response from Flatland Drive Bluegrass Band:
We had a great time and we love doing weddings. It was a perfect day to be outside on the river enjoying the celebration. Yes bluegrass does make great wedding music. Thank you so much for having us, and congratulations again.
