About

I am a college student looking to complete a P.H.D. in psychology and a Masters of Fine Art. I've been drawing and painting since I was a baby-my nick name was Desi doodle-bug. I have a huge family and I helped raised a lot of my aunts and uncles children.

I've done my friend's and family's Halloween make up for years now and I've done a lot of special effects makeup for friend's short films (something I'm still interested in doing, perhaps as a career). After doing a lot of gory realistic things and scaring the neighbors, I find its nice to do something cuter or cooler for kids.

When I started face painting I was surprised how well I got along with the kids. Sure, I got along with the kids in my family, but they were my family, I've been around them since they were born. I started to realize I was a kid person (which was a real shock to me, but I fully embraced it). I guess its the psychologist in me who loves to understand how people think, and how kids think is so vastly different from the adults I'm normally around. It's incredibly interesting.

I'm a very easy going and intelligent person, and I'm interested in helping out families who might not have so much money, so my prices are negotiable for people in certain situations.

I am also willing to try and learn new things or different techniques if that is what a client wants. I have wanted to try to learn to make balloon animals, but it hasn't been necessary so I've mostly been practicing my face painting, but like I said, if there's something you want that I don't have and I am able to learn it by the time you need me, I'm always willing to learn.

Influences

I started at Osh Kosh B'gosh children's store, and it wasn't really planned, but after seeing how much fun it was I started looking around on the internet. The people I'm most influenced by are actually a lot of the body painters. I like the idea of working with the body to create interesting and beautiful (or scary!) designs, and I try and do that-- incorporate the face into the design rather than trying to work around it .

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 30 - 1800 minutes

I can do childish cute face painting or realistic tattoos and everything in between. I'm generally good with kids, and some are really afraid to get their faces painted, but they hate being left out or made fun of by the other kids, so I can do a little doodle on their cheek, hand, or arm. Usually once they see its easy and fine, they'll go for a full face painting.

Stage/Setup Requirements:
Running water somewhere.

Additional Notes:
I'm very versatile, I can basically set up anywhere. If its raining I'll probably need to be inside or under some shelter-no kid wants their face painting ruined before its even finished!

Set/Song/Sequence List:
I will come when you ask me to (I will be there maybe 5 minutes before to set up, but if you want I can be there right on the dot) and either leave when you've asked me to, after a certain number of hours, or I can stay longer if needed (or leave early and save you some money if all the kids have been painted). I don't have a "one painting per kid" rule. As many as they want (or as many as their parents will allow) is how many they can get.
