Crystal Wright is a self-help author, educator, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur. She is an internationally recognized expert on the subject of career building and marketing, and regularly appears as a guest speaker and educator.
In 1986 she founded Crystal Agency for makeup, hair and fashion styling. It became one of the most dynamic and respected talent agencies of its kind. The artists she represented were sought-after by magazines, record labels, production companies, PR firms and entertainment executives.
Pursued for advice by young hopefuls, Crystal set out to write a book that would guide aspiring stylists in developing the tools, skills and professionalism necessary to establish successful careers behind-the-scenes in entertainment, fashion and beauty. Her book, The Hair, Makeup & Styling Career Guide, is used as a textbook for the fashion styling courses at FIT, Miami Int’l University, and George Brown College in Toronto, Canada, and makeup courses at Makeup Designory, Downey Makeup School, and the Academy of Cosmetic Arts to name a few.
Her grandmother was the most important influence in her life, a strong woman whose guidance, wisdom and lessons bolstered her in the face of adversity and gave her the self-confidence to pursue her dreams. Says Crystal, “Her advice to me, was ‘that I should go to school so I could get an education, get good grades so I could go to ANY college I wanted, and play sports so I would be competitive’.” With those tools, she believed that I could do anything I set my mind to."
As the first member of her family to go to college, she attended Seattle University and the University of Washington. While pursuing her education, she landed a summer internship at Xerox Corporation, where she proved so competent that the last day of her internship closed with an offer letter from the branch manager for a full-time position as a marketing representative. In less than a year, she was among the top sales executives in the region.
With a reputation for being professional, hardworking, and meticulous, Crystal never forgot what she learned in corporate America: Plan the work and work the plan. “That's what worked for me in the past, and it still works today."
In the summer of 2008 with the worsening recession, a succession of corporate bankruptcies which drove many of her clients out of business, and thousands of dollars of unpaid invoices, Wright knew that the season of artist management was over. It was time to turn up the heat on her passion for educating, motivating and teaching others how to create and maintain professional success.
In 2009 she was given a vision for a book that would refocus a person’s attention on identifying and maintaining 100 percent in their lives. The book and accompanying audio titled 30 DAYS AT 100 PERCENT: CHANGING YOUR LIFE 30 DAYS AT A TIME were completed just three short months later.
“While we can't change what has happened,” says Wright, “I know from experience that by taking responsibility for our choices, and changing our actions, attitudes and habits, we can rise above our immediate circumstances, change course, excel and thrive 30 days at a time.”
Today, Wright can be found traveling the country delivering her message and methods for mastering 100 percent in your life to women and teens. She publishes CrystalWrightLive.com a portal for the freelance styling community, bi-annually updates her flagship venture ‘The Hair Makeup & Fashion Styling Career Guide, and produces her 2-day portfolio building and marketing workshop tour, called ‘a career must-do, informational, inspirational and empowering’ by former students.
In September 2010 Crystal will present her first ‘Living Your Life at 100 Percent: Mastering the 100% Mindset in Los Angeles, California.
