Cool Beat Borscht

Cool Beat Borscht is a Los Angeles-based jazz band that is the ever evolving musical brainchild of Tom Moose (guitar/mandolin/violin), Ira Miller (drums/percussion) and April Fletcher (electric bass/percussion/keys). With a blend of musical influences that include - but not limited to - rock, soul, jazz and music from around the world, the band relishes the opportunity to stretch its musical boundaries.

CBB will provide a musical backdrop to your event that can be both engaging and unobtrusive, playing recognizable jazz and easy listening standards with a mix of complimentary jazz originals.

Several years after collaborating on other projects, the three were still playing together – jamming regularly in the basement of Ira and April’s house (aka The House of a Thousand Stairs). They found common ground in their love of creating music with passion, groove and a sense of humor and decided to begin publicly as a trio. One evening Tom called April from a deli in Los Angeles and mentioned the ‘beet borscht’ he saw on a sign in the restaurant. Most likely after a usual run of jokes and play on words, the name Cool Beat Borscht arrived from the depths of the beet borscht in the deli.

Along with their ever evolving book of jazz standards and pop adaptations, the trio continues to develop its own original style. In November of 2012, Cool Beat Borscht released its debut full-length album of original material, entitled Savannah Sessions available on Spotify, CD Baby and iTunes.
