When you hire Chris Rovo you are hiring one of the most dedicated and experienced fire performers in the scene. Having been involved in the fire arts for nearly a decade, his passion and skill has marked him as one of the most respected artists in the fire community. When he first began down this path, never would he have imagined that his love of this simple hobby would become the vehicle for personal growth and the career that it has blossomed into today.

Chris had his first paid gig in 2005. After putting on a free show to entertain the vendors and performers of a small colonial fair in upstate NY one of the vendors, enjoying what she had seen, wanted to hire him to come perform at her 40th birthday party. The rest is history. Since that fateful day he has worked at major music festivals, collaborated with a variety of different fire troupes, spent four years living and performing in the US Virgin Islands, and has taught his peers at several fire performance retreats.

There are many memorable moments in Chris' performance career and these are some of his favorites: In 2007 Chris attended the Burning Man festival and entered the first ever Fire Idol competition (a spoof on American Idol). He beat out 64 other fire performers competing on the flamethrower ringed stage to win the competition. He has had the pleasure of assisting Nick Woolsey, the spinner that most inspired him when he first started out, as a guest teacher at two weeks of retreats Montezuma, Costa Rica in April of 2011. While living on the island of St. John Chris performed with the Pyros of the Caribbean, a pirate themed fire troupe. He will always cherish the memories of loading all of their gear onto a boat and sailing to gigs with the troupe. The achievement Chris is most proud of is founding the Albany Spin Jam in Albany, NY. Spin Jam is a weekly free event that started with 6 people coming once a week to practice. It has now turned into a 100 person gathering where drummers, dancers, and performers come together to share and teach each other. Having brought his own passion for the fire arts to so many is truly a great accomplishment.

What to Expect

Fire

A high-energy custom show involving a wide variety of fire props. These include poi, staff, double staff, rope dart, meteor, flow wand, fire eating and fire breathing which are only some of the props that may be used. Safety is of the utmost importance with any fire performance. Chris inspects each prop before the show for signs of fatigue and will have a trained fire safety on hand. Having fire extinguishers and safety blankets on site, along with having a secure fueling station ensure that in the event of an emergency all the tools to deal with the situation will be available.

Glow

Chris uses the brightest LED props on the market to really wow a crowd. This includes poi, meteor, rope dart, glow hoops, and more. If you want something bright but your venue won't allow fire this might be the option for you.

Daytime

So many props it would take too long to list them here! Great for roving entertainment at fairs, festivals, and parties. Chris will peruse the grounds of your event interacting with attendees. For daytime entertainment he will also have extra toys on hand so kids and adults alike can try their hand at any of these arts.
