Boheme is based in Kalamazoo, Michigan and is under the direction of Sarah Schneider. The troupe was founded in 2007.
Sarah's classes of tribal fusion bellydance, are fun, great exercise, and addicting! She uses various varieties of great music, and is a patient and friendly instructor! Before long, you are getting a great workout and dancing mysterious, fluent, magical steps and arm stylings. Easy to learn and you will want to come back as often as you can! All levels are taught, but even a newcomer can do this type of moves easily and you will discover your hips can shimmy and bump!
I hired Boheme Tribal Dance for my husband's 40th Birthday Party. It was fantastic. The team brought a lot of energy to the party. They were very professional and entertaining. I would recommend this group to anyone.
I love going to the shows Boheme puts on including their Oooky Spooky Halloween and April Fools shows. Boheme excels in tribal styles of Belly Dance and they are not afraid to push the envelope with more experimental styles such as gothic Belly Dance. Regardless of the style they are preforming they are great fun to watch and always put on a exciting show. Sarah, the troupe leader, is very passionate about dance and is a joy to watch. She is also a great teacher and I would highly recommend her and her troupe for workshops.

Sarah Schneider Koning began her studies in Middle Eastern Dance in 1995. As is the case with most Tribal dancers of her generation, her earliest classes were American Cabaret. It didn't take long to discover the siren song of Tribal Style and she was hooked. For well over a decade, Sarah has worked to bring Tribal home to Michigan, by hosting workshops and performance opportunities that are Tribal-friendly. Sarah is also well versed in Orientale and folkloric styles of Middle Eastern dance, and finds great interest in Middle Eastern culture and customs. She is the owner and head instructor at the Boheme School of Belly Dance, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where students can study Tribal, as well as myriad other styles of MED. As a supporter of the historical and cultural aspects of the dance, Sarah's instruction provides the dancer with an authentic backdrop upon which to weave the tribal fusion style. As director of Boheme Tribal Belly Dance, Sarah enjoys fusing the classical with the delightful. Her choreographies often embody a certain joie de vivre and one is never quite sure what to expect next. Boheme is a nationally recognized performance company, performing at such events as Land of Nod Experience and CONvergence, performing live with Red Sea Pedestrians and opening for such reknowned acts as Voltaire, Hellblinki Sextet and Zoe Boekbinder.
Greatly influenced by the vintage Tribal greats: Jamila Salimpour, Aida Al Adawi, and John Compton. Also heavily influenced by our extensive studies with today's Fusion superstars, such as Mardi Love, Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Ariellah, and Kami Liddle. Our improv style is a blend of FCBD, Domba and Unmata style moves.
