I sing in a deep, mellifluous, resonant voice like smoked honey, playing slide-Dobro and acoustic and/or electric guitar on my Romantic All Original Blues / Jazz / Pop / Country songs. I'm in a Feature Length Motion Picture, "No Men Beyond This Point", which was released in 2016, and also perform the credit roll in the movie with a full band. My music is always well received, and I pepper the performance with humorous anecdotes to accompany the songs. I also perform as a duo with sufficient notice for an extra fee.

I perform all original blues/jazz/country/pop songs on slide-dobro and electric or acoustic guitar, as well as singing in 'a voice like smoked honey'. I can provide a small PA (good for up to 50-60 people). I do not do 'Cover Songs'. I can provide a larger sound system for an additional charge. I have access to excellent players if the money is available and enough notice is given.
Musician, storyteller, and blue collar icon of Canadian life, Robert Burton Hubele is a writer and performer of original blues-jazz, and a storyteller, and has a catalogue of experiences as varied as the stylings of his bluesy jazzy songs.
Always a songwriter first, Hubele has created his tenth & eleventh CDs. She Won’t Talk To Me is a collection of blues/jazz/pop originals, the title song of which he performed as a solo and with a full band in the Feature Length Motion Picture No Men Beyond This Point.
Robert’s 2nd CD of 2016, The Sleepy Time King, is a children’s album of 9 original songs written about and/or to entertain his 5 grandchildren, along with 2 original stories.
As a songwriter Hubele writes about ordinary things that become extraordinary with just a little extra care. He likes to inject a little humour and a few tales to go along with his songs, which he performs on guitar and slide-dobro.
Robert Hubele's earliest influence was the earthy beat and emotional impact of the blues as he played along with recordings of B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, and Freddie and Albert King.
His introduction to jazz, happened through Chuck Tracy, a veteran lounge musician. Listening to Chuck rehearse Robert got turned onto music from Tom Waits, Mose Allison and Fats Waller, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway and Louis Jordan.
There is an inevitable country influence in Robert's music, which comes growing up in the prairies with the songs of Hank Williams, Hank Snow, and Marty Robbins, and Johnny Cash.
I require easy access to 110 V power. Stage and lights if available. I do not have a lighting system.
I perform 40 minute sets, number depending on client requests and fee.
I perform all-original songs, so unless you are familiar with my repertoire a list would be meaningless.
The songs are generally of a romantic nature.
