Excellent entertainment

Aaron entertained us at a Bridal Shower. We all agreed how nice his background music was with his Steel Drum, and we took his business cards so we could hire him for our backyard party.

Hired as: Steel Drum Player

About

Aaron Clubine has music running through his veins. He has won numerous awards, including the E.M. Hawley award for music excellence, the Student Music Scholarship, and the York University Talent Scholarship. He has also performed at many concerts on the piano, including seasonal Christmas and Easter concerts in Stouffville, and juried concerts at Brown’s Corners United Church. Through these competitions, he received numerous awards for First Class Honours. He began piano lessons at the age of 6, under the direction of Sharon Wilkinson, and took part in many performances. He also displayed his talents regularly at adjudicated piano competitions through the Royal Conservatory of Music. One of his greatest achievements on piano was in April of 2006, when Aaron received a silver medal in the Markham-Stouffville Division, and moved on to compete in the Metro Toronto Zone Competition.

Aaron’s musical talents branched out to include other instruments. In high school, he expressed an interest in the percussion instruments, and joined the Stouffville District Secondary School Senior Band, directed by Daniel McConnachie. He was most familiar with the marimba and the timpani, and Aaron would often play these instruments during seasonal concerts. People in the audience would recognize him, and comment on his passion for music. Along with the Senior Band, Aaron performed in many concerts throughout the year. The Senior Band took part in the York Region Music Festival for three years. In 2006, Aaron and the Senior Band competed in the Kiwanis Music Festival, and earned a gold medal for their adjudicated performance. With enthusiastic music teachers guiding him along the way, Aaron became interested in the teaching field, and in Grade 12 he enrolled in the Co-op program at Stouffville District Secondary School. This gave him the opportunity to work alongside the high school music teacher as a teaching assistant, which provided lots of hands-on participation, and allowed him to lead the class, conducting songs and teaching lessons. He also led the Stouffville District Secondary School Junior Band practices.

In the fall of 2008, Aaron enrolled into the Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Music at York University. With a high average and an impressive music audition, Aaron was awarded a university scholarship. In his first year, Aaron became interested in steel drum music from Trinidad and Tobago, and enrolled in a course dedicated to this discipline. As soon as he played his first note on the steel drum, he was hooked, as the island music came alive. Aaron was part of the steel drum ensemble at York University. This group consisted of forty musicians who played steel drums of various sizes. The ensemble performed twice a year at public concerts at York University.

Now with his own soprano steel drum, Aaron has frequently been asked to play at events in the Greater Toronto Area, including weddings, concerts, church services, and corporate functions. The audience is thrilled with how the music creates a great atmosphere and how it enhances the overall experience. Since the music is so unique, Aaron receives many compliments at these events. The beautiful steel drum music reminds them of being on vacation. Aaron has also received great reviews in the Stouffville newspaper. When Aaron performed the prelude music before a church service, columnist Jim Thomas stated that it “set [his] mind at ease with the melodic sounds of Aaron Clubine on his amazing steel drums.” Aaron Clubine’s music is a joy to hear, and will make any occasion extraordinary.
