Raphael Nivens better known as YIGIL ARLIS (Hebrew for Redeemed as Promised) , is a American artist/songwriter from Charlotte, North Carolina. A new star was born in the new era to the future of the rap industry. YIGIL, started writing rhymes in the 8th grade where he found the love of music from his best friend. It wasn't until YIGIL was 18 when his focus and loyalty of music started. YIGIL was also influenced by his Mother and Father from the Kurtis Blow and Roxanne Shantae musical background, in which made him into the born star he is today. He recorded at different of friends' houses before he moved to Minnesota in 2003.

YIGIL returned to Charlotte, North Carolina as the artist formerly knowns as "Yung $ouf". He signed with J&M Entertainment and released the 2005 hit single "White Cadillac". He brought a new southern twist to the entertainment world, touring throughout the whole southern and north eastern region leading him to signing with P.U. Entertainment a couple years later. Winning Charlotte was not a hard obstacle especially being the first only Hip Hop artist to perform at half-time for the CIAA Tournament at the Charlotte Hornets Arena. His explosive stage presence, piercing lyrics, unforgettable hooks and southern swag makes his music the hottest in the world and rewarding to the entertainment industry. His career was off to a great start, but the influence of gangs and drugs helped his career spriral downwards.

YIGIL moved back to Minnesota because he was tired and worn out and says to this very day, that death was around the corner for him. YIGIL always had a relationship with GOD and was saved at an early age, but it wasn't until 2013 when re-dedicated his life to Christ. Transitioning from Hip Hop to Chritsian Rap, "YIGIL ARLIS" is the smooth swagger sound of deep rooted true southern accented rap. He is one of the premier icons to ever touch the mic today. In 2016 , YIGIL went back in the studio and started back using the gift God gave him to do Gods work. YIGIL is currently completing his upcoming 1st Christian Rap Album "Tha WILDERNESS" and touring. YIGIL ARLIS is the voice from the south in the mid-west that the whole world has been waiting to hear. But the music is for outreach and for THE GLORY OF GOD ONLY!!!!!
