Additional booking notes
My voiceover workshop with 100 participants requires a hybrid setup: a dedicated "performance zone" for active recording and a high-quality PA system so the large audience can hear the subtle nuances of vocal delivery.
Here are the technical requirements broken down by category:
🎤 Audio & Recording Equipment
• Microphones:
• 1 Large-Diaphragm Condenser microphone (e.g., Rode NT1-A or Neumann TLM 103) on a heavy-duty boom stand with a pop filter for the voiceover workstation. (I can provide the mic and mic stand I'll just need help setting it up.)
• 1 Wireless lavalier or headset microphone for the instructor.
• 1-2 Wireless handheld microphones for audience Q&A.
• Audio Interface: A reliable USB interface (e.g., Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or Universal Audio Apollo Twin) connected to the main recording laptop.(I can provide this)
• I'll need this:
Studio Monitors: 1 pair of high-quality reference monitors pointing at the instructor/performer station for precise playback checking.
🔊 Sound Reinforcement (PA System)
• Main Speakers: At least 2 front-of-house (FOH) PA speakers (e.g., QSC K12.2) mounted on stands, spaced to cover all 100 audience members evenly.
• Audio Mixer: A minimum 8-channel digital or analog mixer to route the instructor mic, Q&A mics, laptop playback, and recording microphone into the main room speakers.
💻 Video & Display
• Projector & Screen: A large projection screen (minimum 120 inches) or a massive LED wall visible to all 100 seats.
• Video Routing: The recording laptop must duplicate its screen to the projector so the audience can see the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software (e.g., Pro Tools, Audacity, or Adobe Audition) and watch live wave editing.
• Script Monitors: 1 secondary flat-screen monitor placed on a stand directly in front of the voiceover microphone so the performer can read scripts without paper rustling.
⚡ Power & Infrastructure
• Power Distribution: A minimum of 4 clean AC power outlets at the main technical/recording table.
• Cabling: Heavy-duty XLR cables for all microphones, 1/4-inch or XLR cables for speaker routing, and HDMI/USB-C cables for video distribution.
• Backupt: High-capacity USB power banks or a small UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for the recording laptop to prevent data loss.
