Live science entertainment for birthday parties, schools, camps, and special events for kids ages 4–11 across Los Angeles. Works of Science! provides exciting demonstrations and interactive moments that captivate the entire group while parents relax and enjoy the celebration. Offering unforgettable science moments like flash-frozen ice cream, fizzy soda fountains, giant bubbles, rockets, and more! Kids and adults are invited to participate, predict, and cheer. Select programs also include creative hands-on projects such as soaps, candles, infinity mirrors, cameras, or basic robotics, depending on the event and age group. Shows are led by Mike the Science Guy, a published physicist in fluid and nonlinear dynamics and a former UC PhD researcher, along with one or more trained assistants. Hi! My name is Michael Mandel, AKA "Mike the Science Guy", and I provide interactive science shows for kids of all ages. I've performed in schools, backyards, living rooms, and more. Works of Science! will mesmerize you at birthday parties, school events, holiday events, and even on the random days where you have a bunch of kids to entertain.
I live in mid-city LA, and can perform almost anywhere in the greater LA area.

I attended a PhD program for applied science engineering, before health issues got in the way. I have published research in Fluid Dynamics and Non Linear Dynamics, and have a lot of experience in the Chemistry and Physics laboratory.

I have a passion for learning, teaching, and most of all doing science. People say I am like the science teacher they wish they had in school, that I have a gift for breaking down difficult concepts and making science fun (even for a 4 year old).
