When you hire Why Knot Wed, you can expect a personalized, professional, and heartfelt experience from start to finish.
Every ceremony begins with a conversation. I take the time to get to know you, your relationship, and what matters most to you as a couple. Using your story, I create a customized ceremony that reflects your personalities, values, and vision for your wedding day.
On the day of your wedding, you'll have an officiant who is calm, organized, and fully focused on making your ceremony feel natural and meaningful. As the first person to welcome your guests and set the tone for the celebration, I help create an atmosphere that is warm, engaging, and memorable.
Services include personalized ceremony writing, unlimited communication leading up to the wedding, guidance throughout the planning process, performance of the ceremony, signing and filing of marriage documents when required, and optional premarital coaching for couples looking to build a strong foundation for marriage.
Whether you're planning a grand celebration, an intimate elopement, a vow renewal, or an LGBTQ+ wedding, my goal is simple: to create a ceremony that feels authentically you and leaves you and your guests with a lasting memory of one of life's most important moments.
I'm Jenn Zappola, founder of Why Knot Wed. As a professional wedding officiant, I believe your ceremony should be one of the most meaningful parts of your wedding day—not just something that happens before the reception. As the first person to welcome your guests and set the tone for the celebration, I create personalized ceremonies that reflect your unique love story, personalities, and values.
Whether you're planning a wedding, elopement, vow renewal, or LGBTQ+ ceremony, I work closely with each couple to craft a heartfelt experience that feels authentic, memorable, and truly yours. From the first conversation to the moment you say "I do," my goal is to make the process easy, enjoyable, and stress-free.
What makes Why Knot Wed unique is that I also offer premarital coaching for couples who want to strengthen their relationship before marriage. While my primary role is officiating your ceremony, couples appreciate having access to meaningful conversations about communication, expectations, conflict resolution, and building a strong foundation for the future.
Serving New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, and surrounding areas, I would be honored to help tell your story and create a ceremony you'll remember for a lifetime.
Your Love Story, Your Way.
Why Knot Wed can perform ceremonies in a variety of settings, from intimate elopements and private residences to beaches, parks, banquet halls, and wedding venues.
For larger ceremonies, a microphone and sound system are recommended so all guests can clearly hear the ceremony. For outdoor weddings, couples should have a weather contingency plan if applicable. I coordinate with your planner, venue, photographer, DJ, or other vendors as needed to ensure the ceremony flows smoothly.
No special staging or lighting is required, but a well-defined ceremony space helps create the best experience for you and your guests. I arrive prepared, professionally dressed, and ready to help make your ceremony meaningful, memorable, and stress-free.
My officiating style has been influenced by years of public speaking, storytelling, and connecting with people from all walks of life. Before becoming a wedding officiant, I spent many years working in radio and television, where I learned the importance of engaging an audience, communicating with authenticity, and making meaningful connections.
I am also inspired by the couples I have the privilege of working with. Every love story is different, and each ceremony teaches me something new about commitment, partnership, and the many ways people express love. These experiences have shaped my approach to creating ceremonies that are warm, personal, inclusive, and memorable.
Rather than following a specific formula, I draw inspiration from real relationships and the unique stories that make every wedding one of a kind.
