I like to preface my pieces a bit before I share them so people don't miss the meaning. Knowing how heavy the subject matter of my poems tends to be, I like to keep things a bit lighthearted in the spaces between poems, just to create some breathing room. Each poem, by virtue of it's content, tends to encourage people to ask hard questions. I also make sure that people know that every critique I offer in each poem is just as much aimed at myself as it is aimed at the general public. It establishes common ground between me and my audience, which can hopefully lead to healthy conversation.

Nick Murray is South Florida-based Spoken Word poet who began performing spoken word in late 2012. His first introduction to the art form was through a close friend who asked him to take part in a Spoken Word showcase. Since then, he has gained a following in his local community and performs regularly in West Palm Beach, as well as Hollywood, and even Orlando on occasion.

I only ever require a microphone and a mic stand.
