The group finds great joy in providing new; culturally enriching experiences to the communities they come in contact with across the sensual, expressive and purely musical planes of listening. In addition to performing at jazz clubs & festivals across the country, the WB Jazz Group prides itself on playing performance venues such as University Performance Series, Community Arts Centers, Library Concerts, Nursing/Assisted Living Facilities and any other venues that may provide a listening experience for EVERYONE that is interested in the music.
Wade Baker is a 4 time GRAMMY nominee for Music Educator of the Year. He is also the Director of Instrumental Studies at Olney Central College where he heads the instrumental music area and directs the OCC Concert Band, OCC Big Band, OCC Jazz Combo, OCC Commercial Music Ensemble, OCC Contemporary Music Ensemble, OCC Pep Band and the Olney Community Band. In addition he privately teaches trumpet, electric bass, guitar and jazz piano as well as Class Piano, Music Theory I-IV and Music In Multicultural America. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Indianapolis and his master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Wade has performed with notable artists such as Pinetop Perkins, BB King, Bootsy Collins, Philip Paul, Leroy Parnell, Marcia Ball, the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble (SIWE) and the Evansville Symphonic Band (ESB).
Mr. Baker is currently principal trumpet in the Olney Chamber Orchestra (which just recently performed the Beethoven Choral Fantasy & the entirety of the Messiah), Music Director for the Big Joe Duskin Music Education Foundation, Founder of the OCC Summer Explorer’s Jazz Camp, as well as actively freelancing with his own small group jazz ensemble, full big band (Bokeh Big Band), acoustic duo (Jamie Taylor & Wade Baker) and blues/funk/soul (On the One) projects. Wade is also a regular member of Morgan Donahue’s Left of Center Players.
Mr. Baker has been a featured conductor with the OCC Concert Band at Carnegie Hall In New York City. He is also in high demand as a guest artist/clinician visiting grade schools, middle schools, high schools, colleges and community associations all throughout the Mid West and South East to help spread the good word about music education.
