Danie Etienne is a Haitian-American storyteller, movement author, and filmmaker hailing from Fort Myers, Florida. Growing up in a Haitian household, movement has always been a vital part of her life and connection to others. From the expressive nature of Haitian communication to the cultural significance of Kompa and freedom, Danie learned that music and the dance that surrounded it were an integral part of her ability to form close relationships to other people.

Danie’s movement style fuses contemporary, and hip-hop dance forms to construct abstract narratives and familiar characters that reflect the stories of the Black community.
