The beginning of a culinary adventure . . .
Veronica’s culinary journey began unexpectedly when she served as a missionary near Mexico. Living in a church, she stayed in a room as big as a hallway. She taught English to the Mexican community to help them grow and advance in their lives. She mingled with the students and their families and, they in-tern, taught her the culture and how to cook their food.
“I had a blast with my students. They taught me how to make home-made tamales, tortillas, gorditas, carnitas and any other “nitas” you can think of . All their food is so addicting, I would even chase down their corn trucks”, she says laughing as she reminisces, “Delicious and festive, one of my favorite cuisines very close to my heart. The people are amazing . . . and very beautiful in character and hospitality.”
Life Choice as a Personal Chef . . .
After many years of practical study of international cooking, both in her travels and personal life, she found herself in the demanding and grueling kitchens in Le Cordon Bleu. She continued her studies at Western Culinary Institute in Portland Oregon 2006. There, she worked side by side with the best International and American Chefs as well as Pastry Chefs.
This allowed her to take what she already learned and expand her knowledge, honing her craft of international flavors and techniques. Le Cordon Bleu is the most prestigious program with the highest standard for professional cooking, baking and sanitation requirements.
“I have to admit, becoming a restaurateur is a tempting option, but I chose the Personal Chef route for several reasons. I wanted something more geared and specific for my clients needs, especially busy families and professionals who feel their need to eat healthy, but don’t have a lot of time to cook.
There’s a lot of restaurant fatigue out there and sometimes it’s just plain hard to juggle everything especially if you are a parent. Some of my clients get prescription diets for a doctor or dietitian and it’s overwhelming for them to adjust to cooking and learning to like a new diet.
I offer chef-quality healthy customized meals they can enjoy in the privacy of their own homes and still be affordable . . . and many times cheaper than going out.
