January 22, 2026Unity Salsa provided DJ services for my daughter's bat mitzvah party. At the last minute, my daughter asked to turn it into a karaoke party, and not only did Unity Salsa make it work, they turned it into an incredible night for everyone at the party! The kids had a blast singing their hearts out, Shira managed the crowd and kept everything moving, and they had an amazing selection of music to keep everyone happy. They were incredible to work with from planning to helping us wrap up when it was time to end the celebration. We could not have asked for more.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Shawn and Shira to lead a salsa dance session for our 360Connect group, which included children and young adults of various ability levels. From the moment they arrived, their energy, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for dance created an inviting and encouraging atmosphere.
Their ability to adapt movements, provide clear instructions, and engage everyone—regardless of skill or mobility—made the experience truly special. They took the time to ensure that each participant felt comfortable and empowered, offering modifications when needed while still maintaining the fun and vibrancy of salsa. Their patience and positivity were evident in every interaction, and it was inspiring to see participants light up with confidence as they found their rhythm.
Beyond teaching steps, they fostered a sense of community, connection, and joy through movement. It was an experience that went beyond dance—it was about inclusion, self-expression, and celebrating what each person could bring to the floor. December 27, 2024Shira Aviva captivated the audience with her talented skills in a variety of Latin dances including Salsa, Bachata and Zouk. She has such a beautiful stage presence and performed with such technical skill, flow and grace. Unity Entertainment was a such a pleasure to have and helped to create the ambiance with their lighting and sound system. I would definitely recommend Unity Entertainment to spice up any of your events!!

Unity Salsa Entertainment is led by Shira James and Shawn Sallee, longtime collaborators, performers, and community organizers who use music and dance to bring people together in meaningful ways.
Shira is a professional dancer, educator, and occupational therapist with extensive experience leading group activities, community programming, and interactive events. She brings a warm, engaging presence and a strong ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Shawn is a DJ, musician, and dance instructor with deep roots in the local Latin dance community. He is known for creating high-energy, well-curated music experiences and for his ability to read a crowd and keep events flowing smoothly.
Together, they founded and run (link hidden), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to using music, dance, and human connection to support individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship. They provide outreach services in the community, helping homeless and at-risk individuals build connection, confidence, and access to basic needs. Their nonprofit work includes ongoing outreach, community engagement, and partnerships focused on dignity, inclusion, and recovery.
