Typewriter Guest Book & Experiences
Overview
Typewriter Social brings restored vintage typewriters to your event — and your guests do the typing via hosted station where guests write notes, advice, and telegrams on machines from the 1920s–60s. No delete key, so people mean what they say. Every page is scanned and hand-bound into a keepsake book.
Hosted by author Stephen Lloyd Webber, whose Austin events regularly sell out. A tested prompt system means no guest ever faces a blank page.
One 6-ft table, zero power needed, backup machines on site.
Weddings, corporate, brand activations. Austin & Hill Country.

July 10, 2026The best interactive 'guest book' at our party
Smooth setup and facilitation for our team offsite of 30, Stephen was able to get even the quiet folks to actually participate. All he needed was a table and chairs. Easily the best part of the evening, really. Loved the sound of everyone typing

What to expect
A styled station of restored 1920s–60s typewriters, hosted start to finish. Guests sit down, get a fifteen-second lesson, and then they type something — a note, a postcard, confessions. A tested prompt system means no one ever faces a blank page, and the host keeps paper moving and guests encouraged. Afterward, guests can take home what they write or optionally leave each page to be scanned and hand-bound into a keepsake book delivered within the week. Expect a line at the machines by mid-event and at least one guest who has to be dragged away.
About
Stephen Lloyd Webber is a published author of seven books with an MFA in creative writing and two decades of getting people writing, including people who swear they can't. He led international writing retreats for ten years before bringing a fleet of restored vintage typewriters to Austin, where his Typewriter Social events regularly sell out. He restores and maintains every machine himself, hosts every event personally, and has yet to meet a guest who didn't find it satisfying to type on a machine built before the internet even existed. The sound alone does half the work.
Additional booking notes
All machines are restored vintage typewriters, maintained by hand, with two backup machines at every event. A jam never stops the station. All paper, ribbons, prompts, and signage provided. Custom stationery, postcard formats, and themed prompt sets (weddings, corporate, holidays) available. Zero electricity required; the station runs anywhere, including historic venues and outdoor settings with cover. Machines are sensitive to rain and direct heavy humidity, so outdoor placement needs a covered area.
