Upon arriving to the residence promptly I knocked on the door. It was open but no one came to let me in for a few minutes. Finally a young lady approached the door and let myself and previously requested and approved quest in. Upon entering the residence I was unaware how to proceed. My manager then asked for the host of the party and we were instructed by the young girl that everyone was in the kitchen area of the residence. Upon entering the kitchen area there were a few women standing there, my manager introduces me as the artist performing that night to which the woman responds "oh because I was about to say." I said nothing and waited for further instruction. When shown where to set up, began setting up my music and I proceeded to the restroom to ensure I was ready to perform. When I return my manager asked if there was any issue? I was unaware of any after only arriving a few minute. " My manager then informed me the women we first encounter in the kitchen whom did not identify or introduce herself was upset and yelling out "this was her house and things should be more professional." I began to sing my first set and I was a bit nervous. I did fumble a word at times but recovered and continued to sing the song to the delight of the audience; each song was met by applause.
Before the performance I had been in contact with the host since Mid November and I attempted to have many discussion by messages through Gig Salad as to the specific request of music and how the party should flow. I was give a general idea but only a song or two was made as a specific request. Thus I took the time to create a playlist to approve. The audience sang along with many of the song selections, at times when I took a break and audience member stated I did deserve one. I did realize I had made a mistake or two & wanted to be more accommodating thus I asked the host for specific request and altered the performance.
