Overview

Milwaukee’s finest early jazz, prewar blues and hokum musicianers! Specialists in the craft of hot early jazz from 1920s and 1930s Chicago when the whole world danced and listened to bands like Louis Armstrong’s Hot Fives. Our clients say “You all don’t just excel at music, you provide an experience!” and “They transported us to another time and delighted us from start to finish! Trust me, they are a mood enhancer; we love them!”

Fantastic!

The guys are pros! The band was communicative, ready to play when our event started, and engaged with our guests. The music was PERFECT for a company holiday party. Entertaining, lively, and appealing to all in the audience. We had 150+ guests, and the feedback was, great vibe! Thank you Troubadours!

What to expect

You have just stepped back into time. It’s early 1929; the stock market hasn’t yet crashed, so the party is roaring and the livin’ is easy. You’re mesmerized by the wailing horns, pounding stride piano and the pulse of the guitar and string bass. You never knew how hip the “jazz age” was until now.

About

The Troubadours have been curated from the best musicians in the Midwest’s early jazz scene. We’ve played our music on big stages across the nation and know how to put on a great show, whether it’s for swing dancers, heavy listeners or mood music for your 1920s prohibition speakeasy.

Additional booking notes

We offer full sound if needed. If you supply sound, we will provide our own microphones (phantom power required).

Influences and inspiration

You just walked into Chicago's Savoy Ballroom hoping to catch Louis Armstrong, King Oliver or Earl Hines beating out hot jazz, but delighted to learn that the Troubadours of Rhythm are great students of these masters. The best of the business are still relevant in the 21st century!

Setup requirements

Power needs to be available for the PA and speakers.

Minimal stairs are okay, but anything more than 5 stairs to the performance area would require an elevator for our piano. (Electronic keyboards did not exist in 1929)
