WATUSI is the premier original "REGGAE / WORLDBEAT" band from Texas and one of the pioneers of the genre in the USA and the world. Watusi is a tribe of 10 world musicians, coming from the Caribbean, Afrika and the USA, joining positive music, kulcha, lyrics and life together in a true Rasta spirit of international unity, with a "One World, One God, One Love" message and a world of rhythm.
WATUSI is the original group on World Beatnik Records, for over 30 years a Texas reggae legend, and worldbeat pioneer since the early 80's and since have become respected and played worldwide. Winners of numerous Reggae and World Music Awards including many Dallas Music Awards for Reggae and.. nominated for the Roots Music Association "Reggae Artist of the Year". Watusi is a charter member of Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (R.A.W.) and

A seed from Jamaica, sown by the great Wailer Peter Tosh, was planted in Dallas in 1976, raised in Jamaica in 1981, became Watusi in 1983 and has grown and spread this band and their unique blend of roots Reggae, soca, Afrikan, dancehall and Worldbeat music across America, performing and headlining festivals around the world, from Costa Rica to Brasil, India, Hawaii, Jamaica, Cuba, Colombia... and just back from their 3rd tour of Afrika, Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zanzibar...the first American reggae group to tour Afrika... spreading their music around the world! This winter Watusi goes Mallorca, Gran Canarias, India and South Africa.
2026 celebrates 43 years of Watusi and the release of their latest CD, "Word, Sound, Power" on World Beatnik Records, has taken their music worldwide to all the Americas, Afrika, Asia and Europe. The CD is the 9th release by Watusi and shows great, versatile musicianship and a true diversity of styles and rhythms: REGGAE - Roots to dancehall, soca, zouk, Afrikan JuJu, Highlife, soukous, Afro-beat, salsa, samba, jazz, funk, gospel, all mixed inna true Worldbeat stylee.
