“Blown Away” … way back to favorite Doo Wop days

Visited HHH Library to re-visit an amazing time of 50’s - 60’s Doo Wop by The Tributes. The 5 man a capella group put on an amazing 1 1/2 hour show that entertained this Bronx OG with impeccable renditions and covers of songs from back in the day the represented my best life.. The Group was so awesome, if closed my eyes would have thought the originals had all shown up. That good. Thanks for the memories redux.

Blew us Away!

I booked The Tribunes as a surprise for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary party. From start to finish, Shelly was great to work with as the contact person- very prompt with responses, super friendly, and helpful. The group traveled over 3 hours to perform, and blew us away. Not only do they have an amazing sound, but they know how to keep the crowd entertained. I honestly can’t say enough good things about them; they made the whole night! The Tribunes gave my parents something they will remember forever. If you’re thinking of hiring an acappella group, look no further. They are worth every penny!

What an amazing treat!

The Tribunes were the big hit of my father in laws surprise 80th birthday party. The are extremely talented and professional. They interacted with our guests and told stories that all could relate to. Everyone was so excited to see an A Capella 50’s Show. What an amazing treat! If you are having a party that you want everyone to remember and talk about be sure to include The Tribunes!

While catering to music lovers of all ages, the group encourages audience participation, and will include a contest with prizes awarded as part of the show, upon request. The Tribunes perform regularly across the United States and abroad and have shared the stage with virtually all of the oldies artists and groups performing today, to include The Harptones, The Drifters, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, The Chantels, The Crystals, The Tokens, The Platters and many more.

About

The group was originally formed in 1957 and enjoyed success with their 1959 Top Forty recording, "Code of Love" on Paul Winley's famous Derrick Records label. Paul Winley has the distinction of producing the legendary album, "The Paragons Meet The Jesters", often revered as the quintessential doo wop recording of all time.

In 1959, The Tribunes won top honors at the world famous Apollo Theater's Amateur Night in Harlem, New York. The group continued to make appearances at Rock n' Roll shows, night clubs and major entertainment venues nationwide until the early 1960's, when the ensemble disbanded.

In 1997, The Tribunes were reestablished and are comprised of Mike Cuomo, Pete DeBenedetto and Hutch. A true "Super Group", each member has also been part of several top oldies acts performing throughout the U.S. and abroad. Mike and Pete were members of The Teenchords. Hutch and Pete were members of the fantastic acappella group, The Encounters.

We own a compact, state-of-the-art sound system with wireless microphones. This affords the group the ability to mingle with the audience, when appropriate, and adds to the overall professional appearance of the group.

I had the most wonderful experience on October 17, 2009. I hired The Tribunes, the famous acappella group from the 1950's for my mother and father in law's 50th wedding anniversary. Myth has it that on December 31st of every year, a shroud falls over the old year to separate it from the new year coming, preserving it for some day for the shroud to be lifted. Legend says that there's a way to go forward and back in time. Well if this is true, then The Tribunes hold this magic time machine in their wonderful voices; for as they sang, the veils of each year lifted and transported my family and friends back to 1959. Our jaws dropped as they came out and sang their first song and when they sang "Little Darlin", I myself got the goose bumps. What a great performance! It felt as if we were back at the New York Paramount Theater in Brooklyn, NY!
