Travis went on to win first place in the 2012 'Rising Stars' music competition - held in Ukiah, Ca - in three categories: First Place with his band, First Place in Acoustic Guitar and First Place Overall. Playing all originals in various altered Guitar tunings and, using a loop station, he caught the attention of the audience with his innovative and beautiful sounds. A judge’s review called his performance "Truly a joy to watch and listen to...excellent guitar!!!"
In 2013 Travis played a performance with one of his Acoustic Guitar idols - Alex De Grassi - at the local theater in Lakeport, California. Each artist played their own set and then combined as a duo to finish the show. They performed some original charts and performed an acoustic cover on 'Porcelain Heart' by the metal band 'Opeth'. The audience returned favor with a standing ovation to which MC Michael Adams said, "...this was one of the more special concerts that we have had here at the Soper Reese Theater!". Travis has also attended Alex’s, Teacher Training Course and Guitar Workshop.
