June 19, 2025Fabulous talent
David played flawlessly for my party, including pieces I had requested only a week earlier. My guests were so delighted they offered to gather money to ask if he could play longer. I was absolutely thrilled and will contact him again.

About
🎹 Solo Piano | Jazz, Cinematic, Neo-Classical | Columbia, SC
The Wanderer is a genre-defying solo pianist whose music blends cinematic textures, jazz tradition, and neo-classical elegance into a spellbinding live experience. Based in Columbia, South Carolina, he performs with a quiet intensity that draws listeners into reflective, soul-stirring soundscapes—whether at intimate gatherings or upscale events.
With a touch that’s both delicate and daring, The Wanderer reimagines jazz standards, breathes new life into timeless classics, and offers improvised compositions that unfold in real time. Inspired by artists like Joe Hisaishi, Hans Zimmer, and Mulgrew Miller, his performances feel less like sets and more like sonic journeys.
Available for private parties, cocktail hours, art shows, and curated live experiences. No backing tracks, no gimmicks—just keys, soul, and the space between the notes.
Additional booking notes
My setup is simple, self-contained, and highly adaptable to a variety of spaces. Here’s what I require to ensure a smooth performance:
Space: A flat area approximately 6x6 feet for keyboard and performer.
Power: Access to one standard 110V electrical outlet within 10 feet of the setup.
Cover/Shade (for outdoor events): Protection from direct sunlight or rain is necessary to safeguard the equipment and maintain performance quality.
Sound: I provide my own professional-grade keyboard and compact PA system suitable for small to mid-sized venues. For larger events or venues with an in-house system, I can connect via standard 1/4" or XLR output.
Optional:
Lighting: Basic lighting is appreciated if performing in dim or dark environments, though I do not require theatrical lighting.
Setup and breakdown typically take about 30–45 minutes. I arrive early to ensure everything is ready well before the event begins.

Influences and inspiration
As The Wanderer, my music is shaped by a deep reverence for both emotional storytelling and sonic exploration. I draw inspiration from Joe Hisaishi and Hans Zimmer for their cinematic depth, from Herbie Hancock and Mulgrew Miller for their harmonic richness and rhythmic freedom, and from Bill Evans for his sensitivity and lyricism at the keys.
I’m also influenced by modern boundary-crossers like Robert Glasper, who fuse genres without losing soul, and by the quiet power of Keith Jarrett’s improvised solo performances.
These voices have helped shape my own language—one that moves between jazz, neoclassical, ambient, and soul—always seeking to connect with the listener’s inner world, not just their ears.
