The Swingsetters

When the Swingsetters are at an event you can expect a lively atmosphere. The songs are a perfect mix of upbeat jazz, swing, funk, and softer blues. The Swingsetters are able to adapt to the room and will adjust their setlist on the fly, pulling from a deep repertoire of songs, which enables them to cater to the crowd.

Instrumental and vocal jazz are both to be expected, however, we will be sure to chat with the organizer on any specific requests.

The volume of our performance is easily adjusted with our sound system and we will assess each room to ensure we are at a great volume for everyone to enjoy the event.

The Swingsetters are professionals and will act as such. We arrive at least 1 hour before the event starts and ensure that our setup is done efficiently. We will dress according to the event specifics and if nothing is specified we will come looking professional and sharp.

When the event is finished we will take down all of our equipment efficiently.

The Swingsetters consist of Austin, Alex, and Ben (left to right in profile picture). All three of us have vast gigging experience in Calgary with different groups. Together we combine a unique set of skills and styles to fit the atmosphere of any event.

Austin is our virtuoso electric guitar player who jazzy, funky, and tasteful licks dance over any song. He also sings with a smooth jazz tone and brings new life to classic songs. He has an impeccable ability to play melodically and improvise on his instrument. With his energetic stage presence, and vast repertoire of songs he helps bring life to every event.

Alex is our drum master and his flow, improvisational skills, and the ability to read a room are unmatched. He has a breadth of gigging experience around Calgary and is a former drum teacher at Beat It Music. His ability to enhance and bring to life a song in new ways is something that creates a memorable performance for every event.

Ben is our bass/piano player who holds down the groove of the songs. He is a music producer at White Spruce Music and has post secondary music experience. His walking bass lines and creativity helps elevate all of our songs to a new level. His deep repertoire of songs, and ability to adapt quickly make him a true asset to our group.

Together we are the Swingsetters and will be sure to bring your event to the next level.

We will provide our own sound system and mixer if there is not one available. This includes 2 PA speakers. All of our own instruments, microphones, cables, and other gear will be provided by us. The event organizers are more than welcome to use one of our microphones and sound system to communicate with the attendees of the event if needed.

If there is a sound system already at the event, we are happy to plug directly into that with our mixer (L & R Mains). If there is a mixing board already provided with the sound system, we can either plug our instruments into that, or run our L & R Mains into it.
