The Storybook Villains

The Storybook Villains take the rich traditions of the blues and infuse them with a 21st century dose of attitude. A new blues for a new generation. With blazing solos, succulent slide work, rich vocal harmonies and a driving, riff-oriented groove, the Storybook Villains deliver an infectious sound that will leave you both invigorated and exhausted. Their debut album "Happily Neverafter", released in 2017 features 17 hard-hitting songs one right after another. They have been featured on NPR's Musicology as well as KVCArts radio. The Villains are wrapping up pre-production on their second album to be released in early 2019.

Chris Thayer (vocals and guitar) is best known for his work with Big Papa and the TCB, Chris Thayer Band and Stillwater Black. The Storybook Villians allows Chris to explore and expand his love of slide guitar and vocal harmony.

Caleb Roseberry is a rising star in the local music scene. He currently plays with Seville Street Blues and is known for his work with Vintage Steps. His lightning style and super smooth vocal approach are a great addition to the complexity of the group.

Mark Cummings is a veteran of the Southern California music scene. Though best known for his work with legendary ska outfit, The Skeletones, he can be found playing with any number of groups at any given time. His discography includes eleven full-length studio albums and numerous compilations. His playing has been featured on several international cable shows including MTV’s Viva La Bam, The Hills, Parental Control and Punk’d.

Ed Cornejo is a multi-talented musician who has played with several legendary bands, including Rock Paper Scissors, Tribal Lust, and Will of the Flesh (to name a few), as well as performing with a symphony. His groove is gigantic and his vocals are intense and soulful.

The Storybook Villains have self produced an iconic debut album, but the real magic is live. The Villains' performance is something to behold. There is no limit to what these hard-hitters won't do to rock your socks off. The live show features slide guitars as well as dueling guitars, multiple harmonies and 3 lead vocalists who switch off from song to song. The band performs original songs as well as many classics.
